Chapter 61

Kristina regretted not reaching out to Yasmine earlier. Despite facing disapproval and exclusion from her family, Yasmine still used her resources to help with the investigation. She must have sacrificed a lot.
But Yasmine didn’t say anything to Kristina and silently borne the grievance by herself. Kristina felt sorry and guilty about it.
Right then, Marilyn, with a furious expression, charged at Kristina. She completely abandoned her maintained glamorous image and looked like a
shrew.
Kristina swiftly sidestepped and gave Marilyn a push, causing her to crash heavily into the table edge. A sharp cry escaped her lips. “Ouch, that
hurts!”
With a cold laugh, Kristina supported Yasmine nearby and looked down at Marilyn with a superior air. “You’re into this superstitious nonsense. As I see it, the unlucky one is you. You should be grateful to Yasmine.
“If she weren’t there to soak up the bad luck for you, who knows if you’d still be around today.”
“Kristina, you…” Marilyn clutched her stomach, her face turning shades of blue and purple from extreme anger, her chest heaving.
“Don’t believe me? Then let’s prove it and see who the real jinx is,” Kristina said.
“I don’t believe you! It’s Yasmine, she’s the jinx,” Marilyn replied.
“Are you afraid to compete?” Kristina asked.
Marilyn gritted her teeth and gripped the edge of the table tightly. “Why should I be scared? Let’s compete!”
Kristina and Marilyn sat facing each other at the gambling table. The earlier commotion had naturally drawn a crowd, attracting even those nearby to watch the spectacle.
Kristina was quite tipsy, with her head all foggy, but she enjoyed the atmosphere. Her slender, graceful hands held the dice cup, and the clear sound of the dice rattling inside was bright and rhythmic, much like the tinkling of silver bells.
With a sharp clatter, the dice cup landed on the table. Kristina raised an eyebrow at Marilyn in a teasing challenge.
Marilyn put her dice cup down, glaring at Yasmine. “My number must be higher than yours. Yasmine with bad luck beside you, you’re sure to lose.”
As a regular at this casino, Marilyn had developed her own unique set of skills—not always unbeatable, but she was always a contender.
Kristina didn’t say a word. She just let out a cold chuckle and directly opened her dice cup.
Kristina’s numbers were two fours and a six. Marilyn sneered and opened her cup. Marilyn thought she had won for sure, but when she saw the numbers, she was stunned. “How’s that possible? How can there be a three? Kristina, you cheated on purpose!”
“I’m sitting so far from you. How could I possibly mess with your side of the table?” Kristina had practiced a unique skill in her past life before she lost her eyesight, developing an exceptionally sharp sense of hearing.
Marilyn wouldn’t back down, and several of her friends in the casino supported her.
Kristina clicked her tongue. The alcohol was already making her feel a bit uncomfortable, and the noisy arguments around her were only making things worse.
*Here, take all this money and get me a cup of filthy water,” Kristina said as she handed a stack of chips to the server beside her. With millions of dollars just being given away as a tip, the server was naturally thrilled.
“Please wait a moment. I’ll go right away,” the server replied promptly.
Marilyn frowned, her hair sticking uncomfortably to her face. “Kristina, what are you up to now?”
“You’ll know in a minute, but you’re not worthy of spoilers, Kristina replied lazily, lounging in her seat with an air of eccentric yet stunning beauty.
The server quickly returned with a cup of filthy water, dark with sediment, looking utterly disgusting.
Kristina took the cup and walked towards Marilyn.
