Chapter 62
Marilyn was immediately on alert, dodging while tightly shutting her eyes.
Marilyn thought Kristina was going to throw the water on her face, but soon enough, someone grabbed her jaw, causing her jawbone to painfully dislocate, forcing Marilyn to open her mouth. The dirty, foul–smelling water then poured right in.
“I’ve told you before, you’re a bitter tongue. I’ll give you a lesson. We focus on saving water and reusing it. Using mop water to flush your mouth works perfectly,” Kristina said.
Marilyn wanted to scream and spit out the water, but she ended up swallowing several mouthfuls instead, Covering her mouth, she continued to gag while everyone around looked on with disgust.
At that moment, Yasmine, who was almost asleep on the chair beside Kristina, suddenly snapped awake. Seeing the scene, her expression changed dramatically. She grabbed Kristina and dashed outside. “Oh no, we’re in big trouble. Let’s run.”
Back in school, Yasmine was the long–distance running champion. Dragging Kristina, they ran a long way until they reached the busy street. Only after making sure they were safe did she stop. “Kristina, it’s all my fault. I promise I’ll find you a safe place to hide.”
“Why do I need to hide?” Kristina asked.
Yasmine looked guilty and anxious. “You don’t understand Marilyn. She’s frightening. I was kicked out of the family because of her.
“Indeed, my mom didn’t make it when she gave birth to me, but that doesn’t mean I’m the bad luck in the family.
“Marilyn’s first boyfriend sent a message saying he liked me. Marilyn accidentally saw it, and since Grandma wasn’t feeling well, she made up this excuse to blame me.”
Kristina frowned. She knew Marilyn could be excessive, but she never imagined she’d go to such lengths.
By this time, Kristina had completely lost contact with Yasmine in her previous life, so she never found out what actually happened afterward.
Just then, a bright light flashed their way as a black stretch limousine stopped beside them. When Yasmine saw the custom emblem of the Fritz family on it, she immediately got nervous.
Once again, Yasmine grabbed Kristina’s arm. “Run! The people from the Fritz family to get us!” They turned and ran but were quickly surrounded by people who got out of the car.
Yasmine stood in front of Kristína, looking quite anxious. “Kristina, you should leave first. They’re after me. You escape, then think of a way to help me later.
In reality, Yasmine planned to handle this situation all by herself. She thought this was originally her family matter and didn’t want to involve anyone else.
“Yasmine, why are you running from me?” A low, smooth male voice came from behind her.
Yasmine turned her head and saw a man in a well–tailored suit with a handsome and gentle appearance. A smile immediately spread across her face, and Yasmine ran over to hug him. “Jonas, weren’t you in Dibarion for business? How come you’re back?”
“I came back because of your situation,” Jonas said, looking at Yasmine with worry. He noticed Kristina standing nearby and nodded politely at her. ‘Let’s get in the car first.”
They all got into the car, the backseat of the stretch limo offering plenty of space. The assistant quickly prepared two cups of hot coffee and handed them to Kristina and Yasmine.
Jonas gently touched Yasmine’s head with sympathy. “You silly girl, why didn’t you tell me you got kicked out by the Fritz family?”
“Jonas, you can’t help me when you’re abroad. They are setting on kicking me out, and even if you help, it won’t change anything. If anything goes wrong back home, they’ll still blame me.
“I’m grown up now, and I can support myself. Besides, I don’t want to be a burden to you. It’s a great opportunity for me to learn independence,” Yasmine said, always upbeat. She had felt a bit down earlier but quickly cheered herself up.
Just as Jonas was about to say something, Yasmine interrupted him and switched the topic, “How’s your work going?
“Kristina and I ran into Marilyn earlier. She was about to bother us, but Kristina stood up to her pretty fiercely.
“Since you two met, you did well at the charity event last time. Want to talk about other collaborations?”

Yasmine didn’t give Jonas any chance to change the topic. Knowing Yasmine well, Jonas could only smile helplessly and go along with her.
On the other side, Marilyn wasn’t about to let herself be bullied like that? After all, she was quite an influential figure at the casino, and losing face in front of so many people wasn’t something she could easily accept.
Soon, Marilyn’s subordinate, sent after Kristina and Yasmine, returned to report.
