Chapter 69
Sensing she was being watched, Kristina opened her eyes and met Trenton’s handsome gaze. “Good morning.” Kristina held Trenton’s head and gently pushed it down to kiss his lips, then playfully ruffled his hair.
“Hmm?” Trenton was shocked, letting out a questioning sound. Although his tone was supposed to be authoritative, his surprised expression was quite charming.
Kristina had tousled his hair into a messy nest, and his cheek was pressed against the soft pillow, making him look completely harmless.
Kristina got up and urged him. “It’s time to go down for breakfast. Hurry up and get ready.”
Trenton didn’t say much, staying as calm as possible. He thought the more he talked, the more he made mistakes. He needed to know what was going on.
Kristina picked up the set of home clothes she had prepared earlier and asked Trenton, “What do you think about wearing this outfit today?”
Kristina held a set of gray–toned clothes that, unlike the formal stiffness of a suit, looked softer and more harmonious because of the knit fabric. Paired with a white shirt underneath, it gave off the vibe of a young college senior.
Trenton didn’t say anything; instead, he inspected Kristina with his gaze. He couldn’t shake the feeling that her approach to talking to him was like she was trying to appease a child.
Trenton had a messy bedhead and looked spaced out. Kristina didn’t feel his cold aura; instead, she thought he seemed silly and cute. Her heart suddenly skipped a beat, wondering if he was being silly again.
“Do you know how to change clothes?” Kristina asked.
Trenton furrowed his brow, unable to figure out what Kristina meant.
Kristina, of course, didn’t know what he was thinking. She assumed Trenton was having side effects again and reached out to unbutton his pajamas.
“Let me help you with that,” Kristina quickly said as she deftly undid the first button on his chest, exposing her smooth, fair collarbone. Trenton immediately stepped back.
Trenton refused, “That’s not necessary. I’ll do it myself.”
“Trenton, are you blushing?” Kristina found his awkwardness charming and couldn’t resist wanting to hug him.
Trenton didn’t say anything as he took the clean clothes and went into the bathroom.
Kristina pouted and thought, ‘Trenton wasn’t shy at all when he was taking off my clothes.
Breakfast was already prepared. Belinda usually woke up at 5 AM, so breakfast was always early. On the table were only the foods that Trenton and
Kristina liked.
While Kristina was sipping her milk, Trenton came down the stairs. He was wearing a gray knit cardigan and black casual pants. With his cool and handsome appearance, he looked like a charming youth straight out of a TV show.
Trenton sat across from Kristina, and she placed an egg pancake in his bowl, asking, “Trenton, do you even know how old you are now?”
Kristina wanted to figure out Trenton’s mental state. She thought, ‘Is Trenton still sharp or not? Even if he had gotten a bit slow, he should still know his age, right?‘
There were no servants around the dining table. They usually preferred not to be disturbed during meals, so Kristina felt free to say whatever she wanted.
Trenton gave her a cold look and said two words, “You guess.” Acting like a child, only kids liked playing guessing games.
Kristina extended her hand and said, “Five years old?”
Trenton smirked slightly, didn’t say a word, and shoved the pancake before him into his mouth.
Kristina laughed, “I guessed right, you’re a five–year–old now.” Boys around four or five were cute; they’d be perfect to cuddle.
Just as Kristina was about to say something else, her phone started vibrating in her pocket. She looked at it and was surprised to see Elaine’s name on the screen. She hardly ever called out of the blue.
Kristina answered the call and heard a sweet voice on the other end. “Kristina, are you busy? I have something to tell you.”

“Not busy at all, what’s up?” Kristina asked.
“Kristina, I was wrong about the things that happened before. I’ve been thinking it over these past few days, and I should apologize to you personally. Have you had dinner yet?
“I know a cafe that serves great food; how about I treat you both to dinner?” Elaine’s voice on the phone was soft, even a little cautious and eager to please.
Kristina lifted her eyelids slightly, finding it intriguing, and was curious to see what Elaine was planning. “Alright, send me the address. I don’t have much going on today.”
