To my surprise, Oscar indeed called the police.
Felix and all his friends were taken away.
Shortly after, I received a call from the police, asking me to come and fetch Felix. Instead of complying, I provided them with the contact numbers of his parents.
In the end, it was Felix’s parents who, in the dead of night, hurried to the police station to secure his release and bring him home.
When he finally returned, I was packing my luggage.
The sight of me on the verge of leaving seemed to jolt him into a state of panic.
“Honey, I really do realize my mistake. From this moment forward, I’ll try to hang out with them less. Please, don’t be mad at me anymore. You are angry that I spent money on Debra. So, you can have full control of all my finances. And you’ve always been longing to visit the Arctic, haven’t you? Let’s go there together,” Felix pleaded earnestly, his tone filled with remorse and a hint of desperation.
In contrast to the past, where Felix would stubbornly hold his ground during our arguments and never yield, he made these promises this time.
Even the proposal of a trip to the Arctic, which he now dangled in front of me, was just a trump card.
He knew why I wanted to go to the Arctic.
My parents had tragically lost their lives there while conducting scientific research.
Therefore, my emotions towards the Arctic were a complex tangle. A part of me yearned to
set foot there, but another part was gripped by an intense fear.
Back then, Felix had made a solemn promise that in our seventh year of marriage, he would
be by my side as we journeyed to the Arctic.
In fact, it was a vow that he’d stand with me through thick and thin, offering the courage I
needed to confront the memories and emotions associated with that place.
I let out a deep sigh. “Felix, I’ve already been there last year.”
Felix panicked.
“Honey, please forgive me just this once, okay? I’ll accompany you to go there again.”
I fixed my gaze on him, and a strange sense of relief gradually washed over me.
He remembered my desire to visit the Arctic, but it seemed he’d forgotten the deeper
meaning behind his promise. He’d once sworn that the trip would be a way to dispel the
so–called “seven–year itch” and prove our love.
“Felix, you are well aware that we can never turn back the clock and restore what we once
had.”
In my opinion, he was just unwilling to accept the situation.
口
Felix gritted his teeth. “Hailey, it’s because of that man, isn’t it?! Debra and I have been

*Felix, you are well aware that we can never turn back the clock and restore what we once
had.”
In my opinion, he was just unwilling to accept the situation.
Felix gritted his teeth. “Hailey, it’s because of that man, isn’t it?! Debra and I have been
close for many years, and you never mentioned divorce. But as soon as Oscar showed up, you planned to split up with me!”
I interrupted him, “Felix, I want a divorce because I’ve had enough of being disappointed. Oscar and I are nothing more than pure friends.”
Felix’s eyes turned bloodshot. “Pure friends? There’s no such thing as pure friendship between a man and a woman! I’m a man, and I know exactly what men are thinking!”
I sneered, “So you do know.”
I had genuinely believed he was clueless before. It dawned on me that he had been feigning ignorance all this time.
Now that his true thoughts were laid bare, he no longer bothered to mask his true nature. “Men and women are different. I’m worried that you’ll be taken advantage of by others!” Felix’s words filled me with nothing but revulsion. “So, you’ve been using the pretense of friendship to take advantage of Debra.”
Though embarrassed, he still retorted, “At most, I was just joking. I can promise you that I’ve
never had sex with Debra.”
His statement only made it clear that they had engaged in every other form of intimacy except sexual intercourse.
*Felix, are there different levels of betrayal for you?”
Unwilling to argue with Felix anymore, I pulled out my phone and forwarded a chat record to
him, which had been sent to me by Debra. It documented the conversations between her and
Felix.
Felix opened it in bewilderment.
The pornographic pictures and explicit words all popped up.
[Felix, my breasts have been feeling tight lately. What should I do?]
[I’ll massage them to ease the feeling, and they might grow larger!]
[Then, as a return favor, I should massage your private part too, and it can get bigger as well! Felix, what sort of sexual positions do you reckon men generally prefer?]
Debra sent Felix a photo and then asked: [Felix, is it appealing? I’m really fond of the birthday present you gave me.]
[Yes.]
The last message was from the middle of the night on our wedding anniversary, the day we had quarreled over the sexy lingerie.
*Felix, sign the divorce agreement. Do it with some dignity.”
I heaved my suitcase and left. Upon closing the door, I heard the thud of Felix crumbling to the floor.
If he regretted it why had be bro
