Chapter 9
Old Luna insisted that I visit the hospital. Initially, I resisted, but knowing her
persistence, I begrudgingly changed and hurried there.
Upon my arrival, Luna Celia was being wheeled out of surgery. Her eyes found mine, filling with tears as her body trembled in despair.
Old Luna’s face turned crimson with rage as she charged at me, but Alpha Anthony intervened, silently shielding me from her fury.
“She killed your only child, yet you defend her!” Old Luna screeched. “Have you forgotten all your brother did for you? How good he was?”

“Mom, this isn’t her fault…” Alpha Anthony tried to interject.
“No! It is her!” Luna Celia interrupted, her voice quivering with indignation. “She resents me for taking Alpha Anthony and wanted to hurt me and our baby! Mom, you must defend me!”
Her accusation made me laugh bitterly. At that moment, I recognized the true Luna Celia.
Keeping my composure, I asked, “Are you certain I had anything to do with your misfortune? If you’re sure, I’ll call the police right now.”
At the mention of the police, Luna Celia’s complexion went pale. She hesitated, stammering, “No… there’s no need to make

a scene. Given your near–future role in the Anthony’s family and for Anthony’s sake, can’t we let this go?”
I scoffed. “Actually, it’s crucial to call them. Who else will clear my name?”
Before she could protest, I began dialing the authorities.
In a panic, Luna Celia lunged to snatch my phone, but I remained unfazed. “By the way, I saw you earlier today entering a hotel with another man. If we involve the police, I’ll mention that too. The truth will come out.”
“No! You can’t call the police!” she shrieked, desperately.
Ignoring her, I completed my report. Luna Celia’s face turned ashen.

She must’ve believed I hadn’t seen her, thinking she could frame me without consequence since no one would verify her claims. She hadn’t counted on my witnessing everything.
With that resolved, I prepared to leave.
As I was about to depart, the doctor who had performed my abortion emerged from the operating room.
Upon seeing me, she looked surprised and expressed concern. “You haven’t returned for your follow–up. Why haven’t you come in for your post–op checkups?”
“Post–op? What operation?”
“For her abortion,” the doctor explained, frowning slightly. “She was discharged the day after the procedure, and I need to assess

her recovery.” Her eyes met mine. “Since you’re here, a follow–up would be good. One must care for herself.”
Alpha Anthony and old Luna, overhearing this, went ghostly pale.
Alpha Anthony looked at me, his voice. unsteady. “Our child… is gone?”
I didn’t answer. I simply turned and followed the doctor down the corridor.
As I took a few steps away, I heard a thud behind me.
Glancing back, I saw old Luna on the floor, wailing, “My grandson is gone! My poor grandson!”
After my checkup, I found Alpha Anthony waiting outside the doctor’s office.

His eyes were bloodshot, his cheeks stained with tears, his expression utterly devastated.
“Do you have nothing to say to me?” His voice was hoarse.
I shook my head. “There’s nothing left to discuss. Let’s part ways peacefully.”
“Nicole!” he called out, his voice breaking. “I still love you! How can you ask for peace when it’s ended like this?” His voice was laden with unbearable sorrow and pain.
