Chapter 8
Joanna looked at Tyler pitifully, not believing that Tyler would not pity her.
Tyler looked tired, but his tone was firm. “She is my wife, not someone you can beat casually.”
Joanna widened her eyes, full of disbelief, and her expression became extremely ugly.
This was the first time that Tyler chose me over her.
It was also the first time that Tyler made her suffer such a great grievance in public.
If it were in the past, I would definitely have been moved by Tyler’s behavior.
But now, there was no more ripple in my heart.
I took out the divorce agreement from my bag.
“I have already signed it.”
After saying that, I took Charlie’s ashes and left without looking back.
I went straight back to my own home and started packing my luggage.
In the past, I was willing to stay alone in this house because of Charlie.
But now, there was nothing left here that would make me miss.
I packed a few things and prepared to leave.
When I turned around, I saw Tyler standing at the door.
He looked haggard, as if he had suddenly aged ten years.
He looked at me sadly with his bloodshot eyes.
“Wendy… please don’t leave, stay and let me make it up to you.”
Seeing me leaving with my luggage, Tyler felt as if something was about to be lost forever, and he tried to keep me.
“Do you think you can make up for it?”
My voice was hoarse, but there was no emotion in my eyes, and my heart was dead.
“I know that Charlie’s death is my responsibility, but if you were gone too, I really don’t
know how to live on.”
Tyler explained anxiously, “I know I have neglected you and Charlie because of Joanna over the years, but there is really nothing going on between me and her. Our two families are old friends. Her parents died in a car accident abroad. Before they died, they asked me to take good care of her. I have always treated her as my own sister and have never done anything inappropriate with her. Believe me.”
As he said that, Tyler reached out and tried to pull me.
“Do not touch me!”
I stepped back and dodged. “What between you two has nothing to do with me!”
