Dazed, he ran through each room, desperately searching for traces of me. But after scouring the entire place, he couldn’t find a single item of mine.
“Why is this happening?” he muttered, pulling out his phone to call me again, only to hear the mechanical voice of the
answering service, which nearly drove him. mad.
Frustrated, he tried messaging me through social media, only to be notified repeatedly,
“This user is not in your friend list.”
For a moment, he almost wondered if our seven years together had been nothing but a figment of his imagination.

Something must have happened that day, he thought.
Checking the calendar, he saw the date and his phone slipped from his hand, shattering as it hit the floor.
That evening, my father’s business partners gathered at a hotel banquet. I was led around toasting one table after another, my feet aching from exhaustion, until I snuck away into a guest room to rest.
As soon as I laid down, I heard a noise coming from the bathroom, which startled

After a moment, he weakly spoke my
name.
“Emma?”
I blinked to answer.
He released me and suddenly collapse against me.
“What a coincidence,” he murmured. “I’m your fiancé whom you haven’t yet married. Do you want to do me a huge favor?”
“A… a huge favor?” I asked, confused. Realizing the strangeness of the situation, I quickly rephrased, “And why should I believe you?”
He chuckled softly, his breath warm against my cheek, making me shiver slightly.

are in my jacket pocket. Feel free to check.”
Seeing his sincerity, I gently pushed him back a little, retrieved his wallet and glanced at the name on his ID.
