Chapter 6
Chapter 6
This action attracted the attention of many people at the airport, who turned to look at Sheldon and Winter.
Ignoring the curious gazes, Sheldon held Winter tightly in his arms and hurried towards the hospital anxiously.
In my memory, Sheldon rarely displayed such intimacy with me in public.
Even holding hands while shopping was out of the question. He said it would damage his dignity as a man.
I scoffed inwardly.
Dignity?
It was painfully obvious–he just didn’t care about me. Sometimes, love and indifference were starkly apparent.
“Nora, let’s go. Don’t waste your tears on someone who isn’t worth it.”

My mother on the side patted my hand, her eyes full of heartache.
My nose felt sour as I looked at my mother with grey hair on her temples.
The only people in this world who truly cared about me were my parents and now, they were old.
I should spend more time making up for and accompanying the people who love
- me.
I gently shook my head while looking at
her.
“Mom, don’t worry. I’m not sad anymore. I’ve let it go.”
After the plane landed, I settled my parents in and then reported to work.
Everything went smoothly.
Just as I was about to embrace this new
chapter of my life, I ran into Sheldon the next day.

He was standing downstairs as if he had been waiting for me for a long time.
The moment he saw me, he rushed over.
“Nora, stop being so stubborn.”
“Come back home with me and I’ll pretend nothing happened.”
I frowned slightly, puzzled by his assumption that I was merely throwing a
tantrum.
Sighing, I said calmly, “Sheldon, the problem is, I can’t pretend like nothing happened.”
“It’s over between us. Don’t cling to the past, there’s no point.”
“Let’s just save face for both of us, okay?”
After saying that, I walked straight past
Sheldon.
Sheldon quickly grabbed me, his voice rising in urgency.
“Nora, I never wanted to break up with you.

You can’t make this decision alone!”
“Besides, you agreed to my proposal not long ago. I …”
Sheldon hesitated, turning his head slightly as if recalling something unpleasant.
I laughed sarcastically and retorted.
“A proposal where you can’t even get the ring size, right?”
“Sheldon, you’ve already posted on social media with Winter wearing wedding rings. Why bother pretending to be deep in front. of me?”
Sheldon looked up at me in shock.
“What announcement?”
I pulled out my phone and shoved the photo of them, wearing wedding rings and hands clasped together, right in Sheldon’s face.
His expression shifted as he stared at the picture.

He pulled out his phone and hastily explained.
“I never saw that post from Winter. I was drunk that night. It must‘ ve been one of her pranks.”
“As for the wrong ring size, it was really just a misunderstanding.”
“Nora, trust me. Winter and I are just friends. Nothing inappropriate ever happened between us.”
Sheldon spoke earnestly, eager to explain himself.
However, I couldn’t contain my anger and snapped.
“Don’t sugarcoat it, Sheldon.”
“What exactly do you mean by ‘nothing inappropriate‘? Are you referring to physical betrayal?”
“But mental betrayal is just as shameful! Can you honestly say you’ve never had feelings for Winter?”

That hit him where it hurt. A flicker of
sadness crossed his face as he silently
lowered his head.
After a long pause, he finally spoke.
“Nora, I admit it. When Winter appeared, she did catch my attention.”
“She‘ s lively, cheerful and loves to act spoiled–like a little ray of sunshine. She’s nothing like you.”
“But I only see her as a spice to flavor my ordinary life. We’ve been together for eight years. How could I possibly want to break up with you?”
