After Tiffany moved into the master bedroom,
Mark volunteered to sleep on the couch. He
wanted to seem like he was not involved with
her.
I got up to get a drink during the night and
didn’t see him on the sofa. I did hear some
loud noises in the master bedroom though.
They were putting on a show while the wife
was under their roof.
The next morning, Tiffany and Mark were
eating at the table. Mark was blowing on
some wontons before feeding it to Tiffany.
They probably didn’t think I was awake, since
く
they were getting, too comfortable with each
other.
Tiffany said: “Mark, Sarah seems like a nice
person, why don’t you help her with the kid?
She’s your daughter after all.”
Mark said happily: “I don’t care about that
little girl, the one I care about is the little one
inside you! This is our love child!”
Tiffany blushed. “Stop it, but you said that if
it’s a boy, you’ll leave your wife for me.”
Mark nodded. “Of course! Have I ever lied to
you, Tiffany?”
I recorded this, and immediately sent it to my
lawyer.
く
I finally realized why Mark had been so bold.
Tiffany was carrying his child. What made me
even angrier was that Mark thought that my
or was r good enough. I nearly died
when I gave birth to her, and he didn’t even
think she was anything special.
I put Lily in her stroller, and got ready to go
out for a walk.
As I entered the living room, Mark stopped
feeding Tiffany, and came to me. “Honey,
come and have breakfast.”
I looked at the leftovers on the table and
declined his kind offer. “No, the weather’s
nice, I’ll take Lily out for a walk.”
Lily, still a baby, reached out to her father,
asking for a hug.
く
But the next second, Tiffany screamed. “Oh,
my stomach hurts!”
Mark immediately turned pale and went to
Tiffany, completely ignoring Lily who was still
reaching out. “Tiffany! What’s wrong?”
Tiffany grabbed his arm. “I don’t know, will
you help me to the bedroom?
Mark picked her up and carried her straight
to the master bedroom.
I calmed down my disappointed daughter, and
put on a mask and headed out the door.
I was planning to cash my lottery ticket today.
Lily and I went to the lottery office, and after I
cashed my ticket, I had another $800,000.
<
I donated $10,000 to the children’s welfare
fund so that I could help other children in
need, and hopefully bring my own daughter
some good luck.
The money was my own savings now. The
funds that would help me move away from
Mark, and live a free life with Lily.
My lawyer needed a couple of days to draw
up the divorce papers, so I acted normally so
that I wouldn’t make Mark suspicious. Lily
and I went home after we claimed my money.
I had just gotten home when my boss called,
she said that one of my tasks was not
completed. I had to send her a report asap.
<
When Tiffany heard that, she came over with
Lily’s toy. “Sarah, I can take care of Lily, why
don’t you go do your thing?”
I shook my head. “That’s alright, she can play
on her own.”
I put Lily in a playpen for her safety, and
quickly looked for the files I needed on the
computer.
I found the files and sent them, and only five
minutes had gone by. I heard Lily crying her
heart out.
I ran over, and saw a clear bruise on Lily’s
arm.
Lily was my life. Whoever harmed Lily was
asking for death.
く
I grabbed Tiffany’s hair, and slapped her
across the face. “How dare you hurt my
daughter?”
Tiffany didn’t hit back, she just cried.
She cried loud enough to bring Mark over. He
pulled me away and stood in front of Tiffany.
“Sarah! What’s wrong with you?”
I hugged Lily, still crying. “What’s wrong?
Didn’t you see her abusing my daughter?
That’s her bruise!”
Mark might not have loved Lily that much, but
he still cared about his blood. He furrowed his
brow and looked at Tiffany. “What
happened?”
く
Tiffany wiped her. eyes, looking helpless.
“Mark, it was not my intention! I was playing
with Lily, but she kicked my stomach, and I
punished her a little bit.”
I was angry and laughed out loud. “Lily’s only
a year old! How can she kick your stomach?”
Tiffanys‘ tears fell once again. “Mark, you
have to believe me…
Perhaps because of the baby inside her, Mark
took her side once again. He hugged Tiffany
while soothing her and not forgetting to glare
at me. “Sarah, take your daughter and go to the bedroom. You’re embarrassing yourself!”
I was really disappointed in him.
“Embarrassing myself? Mark! She hurt our
daughter and you don’t care?”
く
Mark pulled me towards the bedroom. I got
angry and reached out for Tiffany’s hair once
again.
She wasn’t ready, and her phone fell out of
her hand. In that instance, I saw a message
pop up on her phone.
I was shocked.
I’ll stop here for now, let me know what you
think! This version uses more natural
American slang and focuses on common
reactions and situations. The cultural nuances
are also adjusted.
I tried to look closer at her phone, but Mark
yanked me away.
I grabbed Lily and started walking towards
く
the door. “That’s it, Mark! We’re done! I’m
outta here!”
Mark’s face went white. “Sarah, you came
here from out of state, where else are you
gonna go? You were the one who hit Tiffany!
And Tiffany didn’t even say anything! You need to apologize to Tiffany!”
I met his eyes, my voice firm. “Absolutely
not.” I turned and walked out the door.
Mark yelled after me, “Fine! Don’t ever come back! And don’t expect a single dime from
me!”
I didn’t hear the rest, I just called an Uber and booked a room at a five–star hotel.
く
On the ride, holding Lily, I felt a mix of
emotions. It was just going to be me and my
daughter from now on. But then I
remembered Tiffany’s phone and a smile
crept onto my face. I dialed a different
number.
For a whole week, Mark didn’t reach out. He
was probably waiting for me to come
crawling back. Meanwhile, Tiffany was all over
social media, posting lovey–dovey photos of
her and Mark.
But I hadn’t been idle either. I had bought a modern condo in a Southern city, figuring I’d move as soon as I could. I even bought a
previously owned place so we could move in
ASAP. I needed to settle Lily in as soon as
possible.
