Chapter 14
She tried to sleep but for some reason, she was unable to continue as there was a constant beeping sound that annoyed her, Seeing as she wouldn’t be able to get any more sleep, Zabelle opened her eyes and she was met with an unfamiliar ceiling.
A frown immediately made its way to her face and she tried to sit up, but she couldn’t as her body felt weak, very weak.
Groaning, she tried to remember what had happened, and it took a few moments for her to recall her last memories.
Her eyes widened in horror upon remembering that she had been stabbed. The adrenaline rush was enough to get her to sit up and when she sat up, she saw that she was in a hospital.
When she looked outside the window, she saw that the sun was setting. This definitely wasn’t heaven, she thought to herself.
She remembered begging Antonio to save her, but the asshole had said that he wouldn’t till she fainted, or was it a dream? She wondered.
To clear her doubt, she pulled up her hospital gown, and she saw the stitches on her stomach had healed and were fading.
‘It wasn’t a dream,‘ she muttered inwardly. So who had saved her and was Antonio the one behind what had happened? It felt too big of a coincidence that he appeared after what had happened to her.
Zabelle sighed, and she placed her feet on the ground as she wanted to find out what was going on.
However, as soon as she put pressure on her legs, she fell to the ground. This finally drew someone’s attention as the door opened in the next instant, and she saw a man, dressed in a black suit, walk in.
“Oh my goodness, you’re awake,” he stated, and he made his way over to where she was and lifted her. He then placed her back on the bed and hit the button beside her bed, all while a confused Zabelle wondered who he was.
“Who are you?” She opened her mouth to ask, but no words came out, and she panicked.
However, she wasn’t given the time to panic as the door opened, and she noticed a doctor enter the room and behind him were two other doctors. The man who was in a suit, upon seeing that the other three were there, left the room.
They quickly got to where she was, and the first doctor immediately started checking her vitals. “Can you hear me?” the doctor asked as he checked her heartbeat.
Zabelle opened her mouth to speak and for the second time, no words came out, which made her panic return.
The doctor who noticed this said, “I’m going to need you to calm down as your body has been through a lot. Blink once if it’s a no and twice if it’s a yes. Can you hear me?” he asked once more, and Zabelle blinked twice signaling she could.
“Wonderful,” he remarked as he continued his examination. Moving his hand down to her stomach, where she had been stabbed, he gently pressed it.
“Does it hurt?” Zabelle blinked once to respond in the negative, and the doctor nodded. Meanwhile, the two other doctors took notes. He then proceeded to test her other body parts, asking her questions while she gave a yes or no answer.
After the doctor was done, he said, “You’ve been in a coma for the last month.” Zabelle’s eyes widened in horror over the doctor’s revelation.
No wonder she couldn’t walk or talk. Her body had been inactive for a period of time. Here she was thinking that it had only been a day since she had been stabbed, but it was a month, a fucking month.
But how did she survive when she had lost that amount of blood she wondered.
Zabelle broke out of her thoughts when she felt the doctor touching her arm. When she looked at it, she saw that he was

Upon her blinking twice, he injected her, and she closed her eyes, only opening it after he was done. “There we go,” the doctor remarked just as the door opened once more and a man walked in
Zabelle’s shock knew no bounds when it turned out to be none other than Antonio. Did he rescue her after she lost consciousness? She asked herself.
“Right on time, sir I just finished my examination,” the doctor stated as he began to make his way out the door. Hers and Antonio’s eyes met before he turned and followed the doctor, leaving her in the room.
Having nothing else to do, she tried to see what else she could remember, all she recalled earlier was being stabbed and asking Antonio to save her.
What was she doing in that deserted place that led to her getting stabbed? she asked herself as she dug deeper.
Her mind felt distorted, and so she took a deep breath to calm herself as she continued to think.
‘Jeremy,’ she muttered in her head as everything came rushing back to her.
The fact that a month had passed since everything happened didn’t make it less painful for her, as his betrayal still hit hard.
Maybe it would have hurt less if he had cheated with anyone else other than her sister.
Right from when they were young, she watched everything that belonged to her go to her younger sister. Jeremy was the one person she thought was for her alone, but she was wrong.
The sound of footsteps broke her thoughts and she saw that it was Antonio making his way over to where she was.
“Welcome back, you survived,” she heard him say to her just as her eyelids turned heavy. She wondered if it was what the doctor injected into her that made her feel sleepy, or if she was going back into another coma.
Before she could figure out which one it was, she closed her eyes and gave in to the darkness.
Antonio watched the woman, who was now sleeping without any expression on his face. The doctor had told him that there was a chance she would go back to sleep, and so he was unbothered by her being unconscious.
It had been one month since he saved her that night, and she had finally regained consciousness. He was on his way home when one of the guards he had placed to watch over her called him, telling him that Zabelle had woken up.
He walked up to the sofa in the room and sat on it. Being rich sure had a lot of perks and one of it was being able to afford a VIP room in the hospital which came with better amenities.
His eyes’rested on the woman on the bed once more, and he shook his head over what a sad life she had. Her family really didn’t care about her, as they hadn’t made any effort to find her.
His men had informed him that her father had come looking for her at the apartment the next morning, but that was just
about it.
There were no other attempts from her mother nor father to contact her and so, they didn’t even know she was missing, talkless of knowing that she had been stabbed.
Jeremy, on the other hand, had moved on without a care in the world. That wasn’t shocking to Antonio in the slightest.
Meanwhile, the police investigation had been suspended as he had gotten the Governor to handle them so they would stop investigating and wasting their time looking for who were already dead.
He wondered just how much of Jeremy’s and her family’s secrets were in her palm and if they would be useful in taking care of the two families who were dumb enough to think an allowance with each other would be enough to bring him and his
