Chapter 28
“Oh my goodness,” Alicia exclaimed as she slumped in one of the chairs. “There’s so much we need to do. Why didn’t you tell me earlier?”
“Don’t blame me, blame the woman who wanted the wedding in two weeks, Antonio conveniently put the blame on Zabelle, and she turned to glare at him.
“You know, if it’s too much trouble for you, ma’am, then I don’t mind having the wedding at a later date,” she proposed, playing his game.
“No, I want to get married to you in two weeks. You can’t go back after convincing me,” Antonio smiled as he pinched her cheeks, which made her hiss silently in retin
“Okay, so we’re having the event in two weeks, we have a lot to do. From the dress, to the hall, to the invites. I need to make a lot of phone calls,” Alicia hyperventilated.
“You do that.” Antonio told his mother.
“Won’t it be too much on you. I don’t mind a small wedding,” Zabelle frowned as she felt guilty for stressing the nice lady.
“Oh 110, this is nothing. I was an event planner before I got married,” Alicia stated and Zabelle turned to glare at Antonio
who had a wide smile on his face.
No wonder he had no problem declaring that he was married to her in two weeks, his mother was capable of handling everything.
“What would I do without you?” Antonio smiled as he got up. “Please join us for breakfast
“I was going to anyway, Alicia stated as she got up and took her seat on the other side of Antonio. William, as always. remained quiet as he took his seat beside his wife.
Zabelle wondered why he had never said a word to her. Did he not like her? She asked herself as she stared at him.
“Oh my, what’s this?” Alicia frowned when she saw what was in front of Zabelle’s plate.
“Antonio was the one who served it to me,” Zabelle immediately lied, and it caught Antonio off–guard. “He likes to trouble me a lot,” she added, and Alicia hit her son.
“Why are you so worrisome, especially to your fiancée,” she hissed in annoyance as she reached out and grabbed the plate.
“Eat it,” she ordered her son, who turned to look at her in horror “I’m not eating that,” he turned to face his mother.
When he turned to face Zabelle, he saw her trying to stifle her laughter, and he hissed inwardly. He would kill her once he had the chance to
“But you expected your fiancée to eat it, you brute,” Alicia shook her head as she grabbed a plate and dished Zabelle a fresh plate. “Have it, dear,” she extended the plate to her.
“Thank you,” Zabelle thanked Alicia as she collected the plate. She felt her insides warm with delight as it was the first time she was having breakfast with a decent family, well with the exception of Antonio.
Was this how Vanessa and her brother felt whenever Lily served them food? It was nice, she thought to herself. Maybe this wasn’t so bad after all to become Antonio’s wife.
Speaking of Antonio, when she turned to look at him, she saw him eating the food she had served, and she couldn’t stop the chuckle that escaped her lips.

Las she new Antonio would be out to get her. She had felt him shooting daggers at her over her turning the tables on him.
Antonio wasn’t having any of it as he walked up to where she and Alicia were and grabbed her hand
“Hey, I’m talking to your mother,” Zabelle stated.
“Mom, do you mind me taking my fiancée away? I think it’s time we gave you some grandchildren,” he told his mother, and Zabelle’s mouth dropped wide open at his shamelessness
“Go, make it twins if you can,” Alicia stated, and she understood where his shamelessness came from.

y my best,” Antonio responded as he dragged her away. He led her upstairs and this time, it wasn’t to her room but his.
“Antonio,” she gasped when he pushed her on the bed and got on her. Her heart immediately began to pound in her chest over the position they were in
Was he being serious about what he had said to his mother? No, that couldn’t be. She would rather die than let him touch her.
“Right from when we met, you showed me that you’ve got guts and while that’s nice for being my wife in public, the same can’t be said when we’re alone, Antonio hissed.
“We weren’t alone,” Zabelle whispered, and her voice quavered due to how scared she felt at that moment.
“In case you’ve forgotten, you’re at my mercy and annoying me isn’t something you should be even thinking of doing,” he said as he looked down at the woman underneath him.
“I’ve already agreed to marry you, Antonio. There’s no need to keep mentioning Meredith,” she sighed.
“Okay then, how about I teach you a lesson another way,” Antonio muttered, and the next thing she felt were his lips on hers. Hereyes
widened in horror and her blood turned cold as the realization sank in
She immediately moved to push him off her, but he held her hands, making it impossible to do so. He left her with no choice but to accept the kiss
After what seemed like forever, Antonio pulled back, and he had a look of disgust on his face.
“I wonder how Jeremy was able to put up with this for months. You taste terrible,” those were his words to Zabelle, and they slashed into her like the knife that stabbed her.
Why did the latter feel better? Antonio’s words hurt her far deeply, and her eyes immediately watered with tears. She watched him get off her and dust his clothes.
“Go get dressed, we’re going to my company,” he told her, and she rushed out of the room. When she got to the confines of her room, a tear slipped out, and she took a deep breath so she wouldn’t shed more.
Antonio’s words brought back a lot of painful memories, and she covered her eyes as she didn’t want to remember them. but she couldn’t stop them from flooding into her mind.
“You’re ugly, how the hell did Jeremy fall for you?” She remembered her mother’s words when Lily had found out about her and Jeremy’s relationship.
“Did you make him take pity on you for not being able to find a man to love you?”
“NO!” Zabelle inhaled sharply to stop the memories, as all they were doing was to make her cry some more. Taking another

Antonio had said they were going to his company, and so she seed for a white business suit and a pair of white heels. The outht looked simple, but the price wasn’t, she thought to herself is she removed the tag from it.
When Zabelle got dressed, she headed downstairs. Alicia wasn’t there, and she met William seated in the living room. Her eyes skimmed to the stairs as she wondered where Antonio was
“Come have a seat, Zabelle,” William said to her, and she did as he asked. If there was one thing she knew, it was to be wary of people who rarely talked, as one couldn’t tell what was running through their minds.
“We haven’t had the chance to talk,” William stated, and Zabelle at nervously in her spot. “Why are you so nervous?” He pointed it out, and she wasn’t quite sure of how to respond.
“You can relax. I’m not an ass like your father,” William assured her. “No offence,” he added.
“None taken, sir,” Zabelle told him.
“There’s no need for formality. You can call me William or dad, whichever one you’re comfortable with,” he said to her, and Zabelle relaxed immediately. Just like his wife, he had accepted her, and he was cordial with her. If only her parents could do the same.
to her mouth and William chuckled.
“You’re all so nice,” she blurted out and as soon as the words came out, her hands flew to
“You’re the only one apart from my wife to say so, others say I’m cruel,” he stated and Zabelle smiled.
You know, I always wanted a daughter, and you’ve never really had a father figure. Would a father–daughter relationship–b too much?” He got straight to the point.
“I’d like that very much,” Zabelle nodded. It wasn’t everyday life that presented her with someone who offered to be a father
to her.
“Get up, let’s go!” Antonio’s voice suddenly rang from behind her and when she turned to look at him, he looked mad, very
mad.
Not wanting to further annoy him, Zabelle jumped on her feet and went to stand beside him. She saw him glare at his father, and she realized he didn’t like William. But why?
Without saying a word to his father, he grabbed her hand and led her to his car. “Stay away from my father!” He growled in anger after they had both gotten into the car.
