Chapter 67
Zabelle wasn’t happy to hear what Antonio said as what she wanted was to go home, but with what he was saying it was impossible for her to go home that day.
She hated the hospital as it always gave her an eerie vibe. “How long will I have to stay in the hospital?” she asked Antonio.
“I can’t say, as it is up to the doctors. They said they’re going to keep you here for a few days to observe you and make sure that everything is in order,” Antonio told her.
“Zabelle,” he called when she looked away from him, and she turned to look back at him.
“Yes?” she raised an eyebrow.
“Why?” was the simple question he asked her. It had been a question that had been running through his mind as he was unable to find an answer as to why she took the bullet for him.
“I’m confused,” Zabelle told him, as she didn’t quite understand the question he was asking her.
“Why did you take the bullet for me?” Antonio clarified, and she sighed as that was the second time she was being asked that question.
“No reason,” Zabelle answered, as she wasn’t ready to talk about it. Unlike when she spoke to Alicia, she wouldn’t be able to lie to Antonio as he would call her out on it.
“Zabelle,” Antonio called once more. “I need to know and no lies he told her.
“You won’t like to hear the truth,” Zabelle responded.
“It’s better than you lying. Now tell me,” he urged her.
“I didn’t think at that moment and then when I threw myself at you, I thought of your parents and how they would react if they lost their only child. Plus, dying seemed like a nice option and a shot at happiness. It wasn’t like I was going to be missed,” she shrugged casually.
The last part was more than wrong as even though she had not grown up in a loving family, she now had one, and they were all worried for her while she was fighting for her life, him included.
“I was worried and so was my family,” Antonio told her so
she would stop having the notion that no one loved her.
“Of course you were. After all, you haven’t gotten your revenge, Zabelle sighed in resignation.
Had he been that terrible that she misconstrued his words for him wanting revenge instead of him actually being worried about her?
The answer was clear as daylight, as he knew he had been a very terrible person to her.
“No, I was actually worried,” he clarified and Zabelle frowned at him.
She was saved from having to give an answer to him as the door opened, and the nurse walked in.
o sat on the sofa as he watched the nurse give Zabelle her drugs and take her vitals once more. By the time the nurse was done, it was impossible to talk to Zabelle as she was close to lozing off.
He pulled the sheets over her, and he returned to the sofa. He wasn’t oblivious to the fact that Zabelle hated the hospital and wanted to leave, but she needed to get better.
The last time he had asked for her to be discharged early, but he wasn’t going to be doing the same thing,

As he proceeded to rest–his head on the sofa, his phone beeped, and he picked it up to see what was going on, as he had received a notification.
The notification was that he had received a text from Alejandro telling him to check the news.
A frown immediately appeared on Antonio’s face as he wondered what had happened.

‘Fucking Asshole!‘ He hissed under his breath when he saw that a video of him and Zabelle while they were back at the town had been released.
It seemed the angle from which the person stood wasn’t good, as his and Zabelle’s faces weren’t clear due to the fact that they were surrounded by bodyguards.
‘Zabelle Garcia already dead?‘ was what the caption read.
In the short video, he saw that it was when Zabelle had fallen to the ground while he was holding her.
It was debatable to anyone who saw it as she could have easily fainted or something else and his theory was proven right when he checked the reactions to the news.
The internet was divided and that was enough for him. According to the article, the video had been submitted anonymously, and so he didn’t even know who had taken the video.
From the way the article had been worded, it had all been speculation, and so he wouldn’t even be able to sue for defamation.
Squinting his eyes, a thought suddenly popped in his head and he smiled at it.
The person who sent the article had an intention in mind.
Due to how terrible the piece of news was, it would cause his reputation to be harmed as well as his family’s, which would indirectly harm his family’s company.
Naturally, anybody who was in his shoes would want to save his reputation and show the world that Zabelle was alive and well.
That was what whoever was behind the shooting needed to know. The plan was smart, too bad he was smarter.
He immediately informed the members of his family about what he had figured out while asking them to be quiet as he would figure out a way to handle the situation without having to reveal anything about Zabelle.
He didn’t have to worry too much about the hospital, as they wouldn’t leak the news. The floor they were currently on was one that was exclusive to the Garcia family, as they were the number one sponsors of the hospital.
He returned his attention to the bed as he stared at the sleeping woman. Looks like there’s someone desperate out there to know if you are alive or not,‘ he muttered to her.
‘If after everything, you still consider forgiving your family, then we’re going to have your head checked,‘ he stated.
Zabelle waited anxiously for Antonio to finish talking with the doctor.
It had been exactly four days after she had regained consciousness and the doctor had finally allowed her to go home as everything seemed to be in order with her body.
Antonio was busy getting instructions to the doctor as to what she could do and what she couldn’t.
She rolled her eyes internally, as she had no intention of actually following the doctor’s advice, and she considered the

meeting Antonio was having a waste of time.
After what seemed like forever, he finally finished and he approached her.
“Is it time to leave yet?” she asked him, and he nodded in affirmation.
“Can you walk?” He then asked her.
“I was shot in my back and not my legs,” she responded as she got down from the bed.
Antonio smiled before leading her out of the room. There was a special exit, and so they didn’t have to worry about being seen by anyone who was following them.
His guards were already waiting for them when they arrived at the car, and they didn’t waste any time in getting them into the car, after which they were on their way back to his mansion.
When they entered Antonio’s mansion, they were in for a surprise as the entire family had gathered there to welcome her back and her heartfelt full just seeing that.
“Welcome back, honey,” Alicia said, as she moved closer to her daughter–in–law and hugged her. “Thank you, mom,” Zabelle responded as her eyes welled up with tears. “This means a lot to me.”

It would be a lie if she said she wasn’t shocked to hear that, but she quickly got over her shock as she assumed that he just did it to uphold his good husband reputation.
“I’ve prepared dinner, come and eat so you can regain all of your energy,” Alicia admonished her just as Alejandro stepped forward and tied the balloons he had gotten her to her wrists.
Zabelle could only chuckle as she was beyond happy. “Thank you,” she said.
“You’re welcome. Now go eat something before the balloons take you away with how skinny you’ve become,” he remarked,/ and both Antonio and Alicia came for him at the same time.
