Chapter 71
“For your information, that man is the one responsible for the aack!” Antonio spat out, his eyes burning in anger as he glared at his wife, who was a fool.
His hands were clenched into fists by his sides, and he gritted hteeth, his anger increasing with each passing second.
Zabelle’s heart skipped a beat, the shock evident on her face. She blinked rapidly, trying to process what Antonio had just said, as it was a lot to take int
Her father? Responsible for the attack? Her head spun, but something inside her refused to believe it.
There was no way it could be Gabriel. She shook her head slowly her expression turning disbelieving.
“What are you talking about?” she asked, trying to keep her voice steady, though a tremor betrayed her confusion. “My father? My father is responsible for the attack.”
She found it hard to believe that Gabriel would try to kill her. Agreed, he didn’t like her, but why would he want to kill his flesh and blood? There was no way.
Antonio’s face darkened as he took a step closer, his eyes narrowing dangerously. “Yes, Gabriel is the man who was responsible for you getting shot,” he confirmed.
“Don’t you see, Zabelle? He’s manipulating you, and you’re falling for it!”
Zabelle stepped back, her mind racing. She could feel the brunt of Antonio’s words, but they didn’t feel right.
Gabriel might have treated her like crap over the years, yes, but being responsible for the attack that almost claimed her life! She couldn’t believe it.
“I don’t believe you.” The words slipped out before she could stop them, and her voice trembled slightly with conviction.

“You’re wrong, Antonio. My father would never do that. He wouldn’t try word, though the uncertainty in her chest gnawed at her.
kill me.” Her voice grew more firm with each
Antonio’s jaw clenched, and for a moment, he simply stared at her, his expression hardening into something unreadable. Then, without warning, he erupted in anger.
“You still don’t get it, do you?!” Antonio’s voice raised in anger, his frustration boiling over.
This was what he hated about her–the fact that she refused to accept that her family hated her beyond anything in the world.
“Has he given you a reason for you to stand here and say that he isn’t responsible?” He asked as he took another step forward, the rage clear in his eyes.
The fire in Antonio’s eyes scared Zabelle, and she backed away as she didn’t want to get burnt.
“Your father sat and watched as Jeremy disrespected you, ordered your kidnapping, and has made your life a living hell, an you think killing is where he’ll draw the line?” He scoffed.
“You know the truth, but you’re being deliberately blind to see it
Zabelle gasped when her back touched the wall, and she trembled when Antonio came to stand in front of her.
Try to understand; your family hates you, and there’s no line they aren’t willing to cross,” he said to her.

Chapter 71
They live to control and make your life a living hell, but ever see I came into your life, they haven’t been able to do that”
“Besides, you weren’t the target that day; I was, but you got in their way,” he pointed out.
“No, no father would ever do this,” Zabelle shook her head, still bt wanting to believe.
Antonio’s face reddened as be scoffed in disbelief.
It was amazing to see just how much he had controlled himself up to that point.
“Are you really choosing to trust that man over me?” He asked. After everything he’s done, after everything he’s put you through, you still believe in him?”
“No, Antonio, Zabelle shook her head.
“I’m not choosing anyone, Antonio, but try to understand,” she tried to appeal to him.
“I just don’t want to believe that he would…” She stopped talkingwhen Antonio banged his fist on the wall.
“You’re an idiot,” he sneered, as he decided to stop trying to reason with her. “I may be terrible and cruel to you, but even I have limits I didn’t cross,” he sighed.
“But I’ll tell you this: I am going to destroy him along with everything and everyone he holds dear,” Antonio swore as he then turned to leave.
“No please,” Zabelle cried, and she held his arin to stop him from leaving. Her grip was weak, trembling, but it was enough to stop him.
As they stood there, staring each other down, the room was filled with tension.
“I beg you, Antonio, don’t,” she pleaded as tears began to run down her cheeks.
was different as he hated
Her tears, he frowned. There was a time all he wanted to do was see them, but for some reason, it was di the sight of it.
“Is that what you really want?” He asked her, wanting her to change her mind.
“Y–yes,” Zabelle nodded. There was no way she would be able to live with herself if she allowed Antonio to do what he had in mind, which would be no doubt cruel.
“Fine,” Antonio agreed, his voice cold due to the anger he felt. Zabelle wasn’t supposed to be able to stop him from doing what he wanted, but she was able to, and that was puzzling.
“You’re making a big mistake every time you fight for them, as they wouldn’t do the same thing for you,” he told her. “One day you’ll finally come to your senses, and when you do, I hope won’t be too late.”
With that, he pushed her hand from his, and he stormed out of the room, slamming the door behind him. His presence lingered, and it did nothing but make her cry harder.
Zabelle stood there, her heart pounding, her mind racing with the words he had said
He was angry at her, and he had every right to be, but she wasn’t ready to believe that Gabriel was the one behind everything that happened.
Not liking the way she was feeling due to having been in a fight with Antonio, she left the bar and proceeded to go to his
