Zabelle had chosen Antonio, and it kept eating him up from inside.
He had done everything to prove he was the better man, even going as far as lying and trying to emotionally blackmail her, but she had still chosen Antonio over him.
However, he wasn’t one to back down easily, and if Zabelle wasn’t going to come willingly, then he would make her come to him. Either way, he wasn’t going to lose again to Antonio.
That’s why he now found himself standing in front of Vanessa’s mansion, his hesitation at battle with his ambition.
Teaming up with Zabelle’s sister wasn’t an appealing prospect, but Vanessa shared his goal and that was to separate the couple.
She had reasons of her own to drive a wedge between Zabelle and Antonio.
If there was anyone capable of wreaking havoc on their relationship, it was Vanessa. The woman was pure evil.
“Let’s get this over with,” Jeremy muttered under his breath before pressing the doorbell.
A moment later, the door swung open, and Vanessa stood there in a silk robe, her expression a mix of amusement and mild surprise upon seeing him there.
“Jeremy,” she smiled seductively, leaning against the door frame. “To what do I owe this unexpected visit?”
Jeremy looked at her, and he tried to hide his disgust. There was a time she was amusing to him, but now all he felt was repulse towards her. “We need to talk. It’s about Zabelle.”
“Took you long enough.” Vanessa smirked and stepped aside, gesturing for him to enter.
Her apartment was as lavish and meticulously styled as she was. The air smelled faintly of expensive perfume, and Jeremy couldn’t help but twitch his nose.
“So,” Vanessa started, pouring herself a glass of wine and settling onto the sofa.
“Let’s talk about my darling sister, who seems more happy now that she’s with Antonio.”
Jeremy hesitated for a moment as he also settled down on the sofa and grabbed the wine in Vanessa’s hand.
“You and I both know Zabelle doesn’t deserve to be with Antonio. He’s annoying, and seeing her happy isn’t something that makes me happy.”
Vanessa’s laughter filled the room. “Oh, please. Spare me the righteous act. You don’t care about what Zabelle deserves. You just want her away from Antonio after seeing that she didn’t care you dumped her.”
Jeremy’s jaw tightened, but he didn’t deny it. What was the point when she had come to know?
–“Maybe I do. But you can’t tell me you’re happy seeing her with him after everything he’s done to you. I mean the
kidnapping and constant humiliation,” he jabbed.
Vanessa’s smile faltered, and a flicker of anger passed over her face.
“Antonio will pay for everything he has done to me and Zabelle, dear sweet Zabelle.” Her voice dripped with bitterness.
