Chapter 8
The engagement party went very smoothly, and both families seemed very satisfied with each other.
Raymond and I seemed to be able to find common topics and talk about each other’s interests, family backgrounds, and future plans.
During the conversation, I found that he not only had an excellent business mind but also had a wide range of interests and unique insights. His words and deeds revealed a calmness and confidence that made me involuntarily attracted.
I also showed my independent and smart side.
The two of us seemed to have found common ground with each other, and the topics we talked about became more and more interesting.
Unconsciously, the sun had already set westward.
As we parted, the afterglow of the sun shone on us, adding a touch of warmth and romance to this moment.
“Ms. Moore, today is really a pleasant day, and I hope we can have more opportunities to spend time together in the future.”
Raymond stood up and extended his hand like a gentleman.

I smiled and placed my hand on his palm, “I’m looking forward to it, too.”
The countdown to the wedding began in three days.
That day, I was trying on wedding dresses in the store.
However, I received a call from Oscar.
My face changed, and I felt a little irritated for no reason.
I took a deep breath and finally pressed the answer button.
“Mr. Wellington, is there anything wrong?”
His voice on the other end of the phone seemed a little hoarse.
“Where are you now?”
I told the truth in a calm tone, “I am trying on a wedding dress.”
As I finished speaking, there was a moment of silence on the other end of the phone.
After a long while, he said in a deep voice, “Turn back.”
I was nervous and turned around subconsciously, only to see a familiar figure standing at the door.
Oscar’s face was tense and gloomy.
But after just one month’s absence, he looked so haggard.

Oscar’s sudden appearance was something I had not expected.
Although I had decided to let it go in my heart, as I saw him. again, I couldn’t help but feel a little touched.
But it was just a slight touch.
Oscar walked toward me slowly, looking at me in my wedding dress with a complex emotion flashing in his eyes.
“It’s beautiful…”
I didn’t want to pay attention to what he said and asked bluntly, “How did you find me?”
Oscar raised his cell phone.
“Have you forgotten? I have your location, and no matter where you are in the past four years, I can find you immediately.”
I frowned, feeling unhappy, “Oscar, we’re over. It’s inappropriate for you to intrude into my life like this without permission.”
He smiled bitterly, his eyes full of struggle.
“End? Bella, what do you think you can decide? My say on our relationship is final.”
I took a deep breath and tried to keep myself calm.

“Oscar, wake up. The problem between us is not a simple quarrel and misunderstanding. Your distrust of me and your inexplicable possessiveness have made us go further and further apart. Now, I have my own new life. Please respect my choice.”
His eyes flashed, and he seemed to want to say something, but he swallowed it back.
After a moment’s silence, Oscar asked in a low voice, “Are you going to marry him because you love him?”
I shook my head slightly, my eyes determined.
“Love or not, it’s not something that can be explained in a few words. But I know that by being with Raymond, I can get the peace and respect I want. This is what I need most right now.”
Oscar’s face became even paler, and he seemed to have lost all his strength.
He grabbed my hand in panic, his voice low and desperate.
“I know, it was me. I pushed you away. Bella, I was wrong, I was really wrong. Can you give me another chance?”
