Chapter 122
Antonio left his study, the conversation with Alejandro replaying in his hand.
Ham planning to pay Gabriel a visit could go either bad or good.
Yes, as he entered the living room, the sight of Zabelle sitting on the couch with her legs tucked beneath her and a faint frown on her face instantly made him forget about his thoughts
She was scrolling through her phone, her brows furrowed in concentration.
“What’s wrong!” he asked, his voice breaking the silence.
Zabelle looked up, startled. She quickly set her phone down, her fingers curling nervously. “Oh, it’s nothing well, not nothing, I guess just.. strange” she added when he gave her that look that always unnerved her.
He took a seat beside her, his gaze not leaving hers. “Strange how?”
She hesitated, clearly debating whether to tell him. What was there to debate about when she had already opened the floor.
“I received an email from a fashion company a few days ago, but I didn’t see it until this morning when they sent a follow–up asking if I’m going to show up for a meeting today. Apparently, they want to work with me.”

Antonio raised an eyebrow, “And why does that seem strange to you?”
“Well” she said, fidgeting with the hem of her clothes, “It’s probably a mistake. I mean, why would a fashion company want to work with me? I don’t model 1 don’t have any influence. I’m not even active on social media like that. It’s probably some kind of scam or mix–up.”
Antonio leaned back, folding his arms. His expression darkened slightly, though not with anger but frustration. “Why do you always do that?” He asked
She blanked at him, confused. “Do what?”
“Doubt yourself. Undermine your own worth,” he replied, tilting his head at her.
One would have thought that she would have worked on her self–esteem but it was the same as when he married her
“Do you really think a professional company would waste their time on a scam like this? And even if it were a mistake, why is your first instinct to assume you’re not good enough for their interest?”
Zabelle’s cheeks flushed. To just being realistic,” she muttered, looking away as she didn’t understand Antonio’s sudden interest in the topic. “No.” Antonio said, his tone clipped. “You’re being pessimistic.” He stood abruptly, causing Zabelle to flinch slightly. “Stay here. Without another word, he strode out of the room, leaving her sitting in stunned silence and he wondered if he was mad at her. Moments later, lie returned, holding something in his hands. As he approached, Zabelle realized it was a mirror.
le stopped in front of her and held it out, his tone stern. “Look at yourself.”
“What?” she asked, bewildered. “Did Alejandro feed you something?”
“Look” de repeated firmly, ignoring her question. When she did, he continued, “And tell me if the person staring back at you is ugly” Zabelle hesitated but finally obeyed, her reflection coming into view. She stared at herself but in her head she was asking herself
dence stretched between them, heavy and expectant.

When she didn’t answer, Antonio sighed. “You’re the most beautiful woman I’ve ever laid eyes on, Zabelle. Back when we first met in that elevator, I couldn’t stop thinking about how beautiful you were even though you were annoying”
Her eyes widened, and she felt stomach twisting Antonio thought she was beautiful from the first time she met they met.
“And before
try to argue,” he continued, his tone softening slightly, “do you really think I would’ve married you if you were ugly? Revenge plan or not, I still have standards”
Zabelle’s lips parted, but no words came out. She had always thought star was lucky to have a handsome husband like Antonio.

Who knew he thought she was beautiful?
Her heart raced, her stomach fluttering with a mix of surprise and something else she couldn’t quite name.
Butterflies, perhaps. She finally lowered the mirror, her checks burning
“1” she began, but her voice trailed off.
Antonio shook his head with a small smile. “You don’t have to say anything. Just listen,” he admonished her.
“If a company reaches out to you, it’s because they see something in you something you clearly don’t see in yourself yet.”
“So at least give them a chance to prove it. Contact them, confirm the meeting, and find out for sure if they made a mistake.”
Zabelle nodded hesitantly. “Okay. 111 try”
“Good,” Antonio said. “Someone will accompany you to the meeting.”
Her heart sank slightly at his words, though she wasn’t sure why.
She wanted to tell him that she’d prefer if he were the one to accompany her, but she bit her tongue.
It wasn’t right to ask him to leave his work over something as insignificant as her.
Instead, she said. “Thank you. I’ll let you know once I’ve confirmed
Antonio nodded and turned to leave, but before he exited the room, he paused and glanced back at her. His expression softened. “Zabelle, you’re important. Don’t forget that

After he left. Zabelle stared at her phone for what felt like an eternity
Finally, she gathered the courage to open the email again and hit the reply button. Her fingers hovered over the keyboard before she started typing, her heart pounding.
Dear Hildea
Thank you for following up with me. I apologize for not responding earlier. I’d like to confirm the details of the meeting and whether it is still scheduled for today. Please let me know how to proceed.
Best regards,
Zabelle Garcia.
She hit send before she could second–guess herself and set the phone down with a shaky breath.
memory of Antonio’s words replayed in her mind, his confidence in her was nice but he was wasting it.
It wasn’t long before her phone buzzed with a reply. The company assured her the meeting was still on and provided the address of their office. Zabelle read the message twice, her nerves building once again
