Chapter 108
Zabelle’s eyes widened at his words, her face turning an even deeper shade of red.
“Excuse me?” she hissed, crossing her arms tightly across her chest as though she was still naked.
Antonio cursed as he knew how perverted his comment had been even if it was true. He immediately backtracked, raising his hands in surrender.
*I didn’t mean it like that–well, I did, but not in a bad way. I just-”
“Stop talking,” Zabelle cut him off, her voice sharp. “Just stop.”
“Yeah, good idea…” he muttered, and he quickly clasped his mouth shut when she glared at him for still talking, deciding silence was probably the safest option.
The tension in the room was intense, and Antonio cursed himself internally for making the situation worse.
Zabelle took a deep breath, clearly trying to collect herself as his words were still ringing in her ear.
She knew Antonio was shameless, but he seemed to have taken it up a notch.
“I thought you had work,” she muttered, her glare softening but not completely gone.
“I finished and came up to change my clothes,” Antonio replied, and he saw her eyes dart towards the closet door as if asking why he was still in the room when she came out.
“Then why were you in here?”
Antonio hesitated, as part of him debated whether to tell her about what he had found out but the greater part of him decided against it.
“I was just checking on something,” he finally said. “I didn’t mean to… intrude.”
She let out a frustrated sigh, brushing past him to sit on the edge of the bed. “You need to work on your timing,” she grumbled, avoiding his gaze.
He nodded, standing awkwardly as he scratched the back of his head. “Noted.” After a moment of silence, he cleared his throat. “Look, I’m sorry. It won’t happen again.”
“Okay, go change your clothes, so we can have dinner together, I’m starving,” she told him, and he nodded as he turned to head into the closet, but her voice stopped him.
“Antonio,” she called softly.
He paused, looking back at her. “Yeah?”
Her gaze was hesitant, as if she was debating whether or not to say something. “Are you okay?” She asked him, and he wondered where her question was coming from.
“What do you mean?” He frowned slightly.
“You seem a bit off,” Zabelle admitted honestly. It seemed she was getting more and more better at reading Antonio, and so she could see he wasn’t himself.
“Is Vanessa still giving you issues?” She asked worriedly and he shook his head.
Antonio’s chest tightened at her words and at the fact that she had realized he was off. The strange feelings rose again, and he tried to brush them
off.
“I’m fine, just a little hassle at work, but it’s all good,” he told her, “You know, I’m in the mood to watch one of your terrible telenovelas. Ask Martha to bring dinner up here.”
“They are not terrible!” Zabelle cried out and he rolled his eyes dramatically.
“Yeah, right,” he said as he entered the closet. As soon as he was in, he headed to the mirror to look at himself.
“What the hell is wrong with you?‘ He asked himself as his hand went to his chest. The feelings kept on spiralling out of control, and he sighed in frustration.
He needed to find someone who could relate to what he was feeling, as Alejandro had proven to be useless. He stood for a few minutes trying to get

it together, a mission which he failed at. Remembering that Zabelle was waiting so they could have dinner, he sulked it up and proceeded to change his clothes.
After he did, he got out of the closet, and he paused when he saw that Zabelle had fallen asleep on the bed while waiting for him.
You’ve got to be kidding me,‘ he muttered as he shook his head in disbelief.
He immediately made his way to the bed, and he placed the tray of food aside as he tucked Zabelle in. She stirred as he did, but she didn’t open her
eyes.
“Goodnight,” she mumbled sheepishly, and he smiled as the sight warmed his heart.
“Goodnight,” he responded, and he frowned when he felt the urge to give her a kiss on her forehead.
It was something, he had seen his father do to his mother multiple times, and he wondered why he was having the same urge.
He however decided not to fight it as he leaned in and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead after which he pulled back.
A guess as to what the feelings he had been feeling popped into his head, but he shook it as it couldn’t be. There was no way that could be the answer. It was simply not possible.
He turned and headed out the room with the intention of burying himself under a lot of work.
As he walked down to his study, he thought back to what he had found out. Zabelle needed to know the truth about her parents and she would, eventually.
Zabelle groaned when she heard the buzzing of her alarm. She tried to turn it off, but she didn’t find the source of the noise.
“Ahh!‘ She groaned once more as she opened her eyes. She found the phone in no time, and she switched it off with the intention of going back to bed.
However, that plan was foiled when she saw that it was already noon. She had slept in once again.
Turning, she found her bed empty, and it was expected. A soft smile tugged at her lips when she remembered how she had fallen asleep while waiting for him the previous night.
He must have tucked her in.
She stretched, and a yawn escaped from her.
Her stomach grumbled, reminding her of the fact that she didn’t have dinner. Without wasting time, she got out of bed and proceeded to have a shower before she went down for breakfast or rather lunch.
When she was done, she took a look at herself, and she smiled as she was dressed in one of Antonio’s sweaters which was oversize for her.
She had been eyeing the sweater since she had laid eyes on it. Today was the day she paid attention to it. It felt comfy, and what Antonio didn’t know wouldn’t kill him.
She would change out of it before he got back home.
Getting downstairs, the faint aroma of freshly brewed coffee hit her nose and she headed to the kitchen.
As she reached there, she paused when she found Antonio already seated on one of the stools, sipping his coffee and reading something on his phone.
She took a look at his clothes, and she noticed that he was dressed in his homey clothes. Did that mean he wasn’t going to go to the office? She asked herself as she quietly turned to go change out of his clothes before he saw her.
“Sneaking out wouldn’t do you any good when I can smell your lavender scent a mile away,” he remarked without turning to face her, and she froze in horror.
