Chapter 111
As the sun began to set, they found themselves standing in front of the haunted house, and it was their last stop for the day.
The entrance was draped in fake cobwebs, with eerie music playing in the background.
“This looks fun,” Zabelle remarked sarcastically as she looked at the other people who were entering the house.
“You don’t sound so sure. Scared already?” Antonio smirked.
“Of course not!” she shot back, crossing her arms.
“Then come on,” he challenged, gesturing toward the entrance. “Remember, you can’t back out!”
Zabelle hesitated for a moment before sighing in resignation. “Oh, alright, Let’s go.”
Antonio held the door open for her, a playful grin on his face. “After you, brave one.”
The haunted house was dimly lit, the air filled with fog and the occasional sound of distant screams.
Zabelle stuck close to Antonio as they made their way through the house, her nerves on edge.
“Why is it so dark?” she whispered.
“It’s a haunted house. What did you expect?” Antonio replied.
“Who the hell even came up with something like this? That person needs to get their head “ked,” she muttered, clutching his arm.
Antonio couldn’t help the smile that tugged at his lips.
There was something endearing about seeing Zabelle scared yet still trying to pretend like she wasn’t.
As they rounded a corner, a figure in a tattered costume jumped out at them. Zabelle let out a startled arm, hugging him tightly.
Sm, as she flew straight into Antonio’s
“Relax, it’s fake,” he said, though his voice was gentler than usual.
She shot him a glare but didn’t let go of him.
“Come on, we have to keep moving so we can get out of here,” he said, and she reluctantly let him go.
They continued through the house, the scares growing more and more with each turn.
At some point, Zabelle’s grip on Antonio’s arm loosened, and she turned to look at a particularly creepy animatronic.
“Ahh!” She yelled and suddenly let out a scream, and she grabbed Antonio’s hand.
“It’s not real, it’s not real!” she muttered to herself, trying to sound braver than she felt.
Antonio didn’t respond, instead he began to walk, and she followed him as all she wanted was to get

out
As they exited the haunted house, Zabelle felt a wave of relief wash over her.

She turned to thank Antonio for sticking with her, only to freeze when she saw who was standing beside her.
“Jeremy?” she whispered in horror as the colour drained from her face.
Her mind immediately went wide with a million questions, and she blinked multiple times to make sure she wasn’t hallucinating.
“Zabelle?” Jeremy frowned as he scratched his head. “How did you…
Before he could complete his question, they heard footsteps from the exit and her eyes darted to where Antonio stood, his expression dark and unreadable as he laid eyes on Jeremy and Zabelle.
“What the hell is going on?!” Antonio asked, his voice low and dangerous.
Zabelle felt her stomach drop. How had she not realized it wasn’t Antonio with her? And worse, how was she going to explain this?

Chapter 111
“I–I didn’t know,” she stammered, taking a step back from Jeremy and immediately making her way to Antonio.
Antonio’s eyes flicked to Jeremy and his jaw clenched tightly.
“Let’s go,” he said sharply, grabbing Zabelle’s hand and pulling her away.
Jeremy didn’t try to stop them, and when Antonio turned back to him, he saw that the asshole had a smirk on his face.
If not for the fact that they were in public, he would have wiped it off.
Antonio immediately led her to the car, and Zabelle got in without a word. They were going to leave the park after the haunted house anyway.
Getting into the car, Antonio immediately started it and drive out.
The drive back was tense, the earlier warmth between them replaced by an icy silence. Zabelle fidgeted with the hem of her top, stealing glances at Antonio, who was still frowning.
“Antonio…” she began, but he cut her off.
“Are you okay? Did he do anything inappropriate?” he asked quietly, and she was shocked, as she expected him to scold her.
She shook her head. “I’m sorry,” she said. “I didn’t mean for any of this to happen. I thought it was you and I should have known it wasn’t, but I
was…
Antonio reached out, hesitating for a moment before placing a hand on her hand to get ho
Op talking as she was hyperventilating.
“It’s not your fault,” he said. “I should have not gotten distracted.” After she had let go of his hand, he had immediately gone after her, but he felt something creeping up his leg and he checked it out.
It had only been for a second and that was all it took as when he returned his attention to Zendaya she was no longer there.
“There’s nothing going on between Jeremy and me,” Zabelle didn’t know why, but she felt the urge
“I know,” Antonio responded.
Zabelle met his gaze, and he didn’t seem angry anymore. “Okay,” she said softly.

It was official; his feelings for her were growing stronger, no matter how hard he tried to deny them.
He has fallen for Zabelle.
And now, more than ever, he knew he couldn’t let anything happen to her.
