Chapter 13
Jeremy poured himself another glass of alcohol as he sat by his phone. His men had hired goons as per his orders to take care of Zabelle, and he was having a drink to celebrate that.
“That bitch!‘ he thought to himself as his lower part still ached. She really didn’t hold back in hitting him there and his blood boiled over the memory of it.
“Why the hell did you invite her here?” His eyes turned cold as he glared at the woman who was standing beside him.
There was a reason why he didn’t invite Zabelle to the party and that was because he was done with her. Who knew Vanessa would go behind him and invite her?
“It was at the orders of my mother,” Jeremy heard her answer, and he hissed under his breath.
“Leave,” he growled in anger and Vanessa didn’t need to be told twice as she immediately left.
If it weren’t for the power it would give to his family if he got together with Vanessa, he would have discarded her as well, especially as she was nothing compared to her older sister, especially in bed.
Zabelle Pierce, the fool had liked him for as long as he could remember, and being the man that he was, he didn’t hesitate to take advantage of her feelings.
Contrary to what he had told Zabelle, she was actually pretty, even prettier than her sister, but she was oblivious to the fact, and it led to her trying to impress him.
All of which proved useful in him winning the bet he had with his friends.
He was going to discard her before his father sent him away and after learning of this fact, he made another bet with his friends to see if she would wait for him for the time he would be away.
His mouth curled up to a smile upon seeing that he had won that bet as well. The fool was so in love with him that she had waited.
His plan was to have both sisters at the same time, but Vanessa just had to ruin it by calling her there.
It wouldn’t cost him a sweat to lie and say that he was being pressured by his family to marry Vanessa and she would foolishly believe him..
Who knew Zabelle would get like that at his betrayal? As much as he enjoyed having her, he didn’t enjoy her assaulting him, and she had to pay for her actions.
He smiled as he could imagine her broken expression after those men were done having her to themselves.
He gulped down another glass of alcohol and stood up. Zabelle Pierce was now a closed chapter and now, it was time to focus on taking care of his arch–enemy, Antonio Garcia.
“Fiancée?” The officer raised his eyebrow at what Antonio had said. So far, he had not heard of Antonio even being in a relationship, talkless of being engaged. If the woman in the operating room was truly his fiancée, he looked too calm about the fact that she had just been stabbed.
“Did I stutter?” Antonio asked in a bored tone.
“I find it hard to believe that. The media…”
“There’s a reason why it’s called ‘personal life,” Antonio responded, finally reaching his limit to the conversation they were

“Make your investigation and find out who did this to her. I expect this to be kept away from the public as this is a very delicate case,” he stated in a dismissive tone, signaling the end of the conversation.
Without wasting time for them to say anything, he walked away to the waiting area and checked his watch. This was not how he expected the night to go, and he sighed in frustration.
Zabelle had better survive as he wasn’t going to go through all this for nothing. Having nothing else to do, he took out his phone and started to go through his emails.
After about an hour, he heard footsteps behind him and when he turned, he saw the doctor in charge of the operation approaching him. “How did it go?” He inquired, wanting to know if he had wasted his time.
“We managed to save her, but she is still in critical condition as she lost a lot of blood. We’ll have to keep her under observation in the intensive care unit to monitor her,” The doctor informed Antonio.
“Do what you have to do,” Antonio simply said as he got up. Now that he knew Zabelle was not dead at least not yet, it was time, he took care of business, specifically with the two men responsible for her condition.
The doctor nodded and Antonio took his leave. He headed straight home to change out of his clothes and just as he was to leave the mansion once more, he was met by Alejandro.
“Do you have a reason for being at my house at two in the morning?” He asked his brother, as the latter was supposed to be getting/drunk or getting fucked.
“Did something happen?” Alejandro inquired with a frown on his face.
“Not yet, but it’s about to,” Antonio responded coldly, and he got into his car. As he got in, so did Alejandro without needing him to say anything.
“Why were you at the hospital?” Alejandro inquired as Antonio started the car and drove out.
“How did you know I was there?” Antonio responded with a question of his own.
“Someone spotted you there and sent a text to me,” Alejandro revealed.
“I took Zabelle there,” Antonio explained.
“Did you?” Alejandro started but he cut him short.
“No, I wasn’t the one responsible for her condition,” Antonio immediately debunked, after which he proceeded to explain the circumstance to Alejandro, conveniently skipping what had happened after he got to the hospital.
“Oh,” Alejandro mumbled in shock after Antonio was done. “I’m guessing we’re on our way to meet the two men.”
“Hmm,” Antonio mumbled. In no time, they arrived at one of their warehouses, which was occasionally used as their den for their illegal activities.
Martin was already waiting for them, and he immediately ushered the two men to the room where the goons had been tied
- up.
It seemed Martin had caught hold of the men while they were treating the wounds of the one who had been wounded. He was impressed to see that Zabelle had incapacitated one of the men.
Without wasting time, he went to the man who wasn’t incapacitated, and he removed the tape from his mouth. The look of fear in the man’s eyes told Antonio that the goon was well aware of what he had gotten himself into, and it thrilled Antonio.
“The woman you attacked tonight, why did you do it?” Antonio questioned the goon just as Alejandro handed him a gun

with a silencer in case the goons proved stubborn.
“We were paid to kill her,” The goon responded.

“Was that all you were paid to do?” Antonio asked knowingly, as he knew there was more. He already had an inkling of what it could be, but he wanted to hear it from the horse’s mouth.
“W–we w–were asked…” the man stuttered as he couldn’t state what else they were asked to do. This didn’t please Antonio, who responded by taping the goon’s mouth and lodging a bullet in the goon’s thigh.
The goon was lucky he wasn’t in the mood to torture him, as that would have been bloodier and more painful.
He waited for the goon to recover a bit from the bullet before he removed the tape. “Let’s try that again, shall we?” He yawned. “Was that all you were paid to do?”
“No. We were paid to rape her,” the goon confessed, and Antonio chuckled as his eyes darted over to the other goon, who was barely awake. Martin hadn’t made any effort to get him treated, and so he was slowly dying.
“Let me guess, he went in first and that’s why he was stabbed,” he stated and the conscious goon nodded in affirmation.
“Did he succeed?” Antonio continued his interrogation.
“N–no, he didn’t,” the goon responded.
The fool was indeed a fighter, Antonio thought to himself and he was impressed.
“Which brings me to the question of who hired you.”
“I–I don’t know. A man in a hoodie and face mask approached my brother and I. He paid us cash and gave us the orders,” the goon answered.
Antonio turned over to Alejandro, who had been watching the whole interrogation with a bored expression on his face.
However, even though he was bored with the whole thing, the same thought appeared to’cross both of their minds as to who hired the goons.
“You’re really lucky I don’t feel like torturing you tonight,” Antonio stated as he cocked his gun and shot the almost dying man in the middle of his forehead and before the other goon couldn’t process what had just happened, he shot him in his heart, ending both lives.
“Clean up the bodies,” he instructed Martin as he handed over the gun to him. Seeing as his work had been done, Alejandro turned to leave and Antonio followed him.
“What are the odds that Jeremy is behind the assassination attempt?” Alejandro stated when they got back to the car.
“We both know that he is. She was dressed in a dress, which meant she was at the party, must have found out about Jeremy’s betrayal, and probably confronted him.”
“It must have been done after the guest had left, as there isn’t any video of such confrontation,” Alejandro pointed out and Antonio nodded in agreement.
“If he sent goons after her so soon, it must have been a nasty confrontation.” Antonio didn’t put it past Zabelle to get physical with her confrontation.
Too bad not everyone was like him who liked to play with their prey. He knew Jeremy as a narcissistic bastard who had a big ego. Zabelle must have done something to hurt his ego, which warranted her almost losing her life.
“Hey, are you going to stay with her in the hospital?” Alejandro inquired as Antonio started the car.

“Are you foolish?” Antonio–looked at Alejandro as though the latter had said something crazy. “As soon as she’s waking up, she’s going to pay me for everything spent to keep her alive, and that includes the gas I spent in taking her to the hospital.”
Alejandro wanted to be shocked at how wicked his brother was, but it didn’t really shock him, and all he could do was pity Zabelle as she had indeed messed with the wrong person.
