Chapter 25
Jeremy, Zabelle muttered under her breath as she stared into the eyes of the man who had betrayed her without a care in the world.
Beside him was Vanessa and her heart broke once again. She thought she had gotten over the betrayal, but she was far from getting over it,
Would she be considered foolish for still being affected by Jeremy, even after all he had done to her?
“What a lovely reunion,” She heard Antonio say beside her, and she turned her gaze away from Jeremy to look at him.
He was staring at her with a bored expression and she sighed. “It’s not a reunion. I didn’t expect to see him here,” he stated. “Would you like me to get you a wedding dress so you can get married to him?” Antonio asked sarcastically and Zabelle frowned.
“Stop being a jerk,” she stated.
“My fiancée was busy ogling her ex who is my enemy, I think I have every right to be a jerk.” Antonio declared as he placed his hand on her back to lead her to her seat.
Pulling the seat for her, he watched her sit on it after which his and Jeremy’s eyes met.
The latter looked like he had seen a ghost and this made Antonio smile as he took his seat next to Zabelle. Jeremy wasn’t the only one who looked like he was shocked as her sister was going daggers at them.
*Your sister seems nice,” he whispered in Zabelle’s ear, and she turned to glare at him for the umpteenth time.
Why are you so chatty tonight?” She hissed under her breath.
“As long as it annoys you, I don’t mind being chatty,” Antonio smiled just as the event started.
“Why are we at an auction?” Zabelle inquired when she finally realized what the event was.
“It’s a fundraiser,” Antonio told her. “And it’s an opportunity for me to show the world that I’m not as bad as they think I am,
“You’re worse, Zabelle asserted and Antonio chuckled at her words.
“Wait till we get
married. You’d be shocked at how I’m crueler than what you think,” he stated as he reached out and tucked Zabelle’s hair behind her hair, an action which shocked her.
“I have to put on a good show,” he let her know when he gave him a questioning look.

He had noticed Jeremy continuously staring at them which was why he did what he did. He made a mental note to wash his hands later on as he had touched Zabelle with it.
Jeremy couldn’t believe what he was looking at. How the hell was Zabelle alive? Didn’t the men he sent to kill her do their jobs?
He had naturally assumed that they had taken care of her body which was why it was never found. He should have confirmed that she was dead, he berated himself as he watched belle.
It was one thing for her to be alive even after his plan, it was an entirely different thing for her to be with Antonio Garcia and what was even more shocking was the fact that she had a ring or her finger.
Was she engaged to Antonio? How was that possible when just a month ago, she had thought she was still in a relationship with him? Did she cheat while waiting for him? He wondered.

“Why do you keep looking at her!” He heard Vanessa ask him, and he turned to face the fool.

“Well, in case you haven’t noticed, she’s with Antonio Garcia, and she has a ring on her finger!” Jeremy snapped in irritation.
Vanessa had indeed noticed the ring on Zabelle’s finger, and it was puzzling to her. She was sure she had delivered the ultimate blow to her sister by snatching the only man she loved, which was why Zabelle was nowhere to be found.
She would have never thought it was because Zabelle was with Antonio. To top it all off, why did her sister look beautiful?
She was used to having the men’s attention wherever she was, but they all seemed to be looking at Zabelle who was dressed in expensive clothes and jewelry.

There was no way her sister would have been able to afford what she was wearing which meant that gotten everything for her. Were they really an item?

“Why is everyone looking at me?” Zabelle complained to Antonio. She was trying to keep to herself, but every time she looked at someone they were already looking at her.
Antonio wasn’t oblivious to the stares Zabelle had been receiving, From the ladies, it was a look of jealousy and for the men, it was a look of lust.
A frown appeared on his face over that fact as even though he had told Zabelle she was ugly, he hadn’t meant it.
The fool had such a low self–esteem that she believed his words and he loved it.
“Aren’t you going to buy anything?” Zabelle asked him when the auctioneer had sold a few items and Antonio hadn’t bothered to place a bid..
“None of them interests me,” Antonio yawned in boredom
“Hi,” Alejandro’s voice came from behind them as he took his seat beside Zabelle.
“Where have you been?” He asked his brother.
“There was a cute blonde whose number I had to get,” Alejandro grinned and Antonio rolled his eyes.
“You’re a playboy,” Zabelle remarked as she shook her head.
“A proud one at that,” Alejandro declared and Zabelle shook her head once more.
She would have advised him to find a nice lady to settle down with but seeing as love had ruined her, she decided against it “By the way your ex–boyfriend is staring at you while your sisters glaring.” Alejandro told her and Zabelle turned to look at them.
She noticed Alejandro waving at them from the corner of her eyes, and she waved as well.
The couple immediately averted their eyes and Alejandro chuckled
“How is she the beautiful sister again?” He asked, and it was Zabelle’s turn to chuckle. She then reached out and grabbed the glass of wine that was on the table.
“I’m still sitting right here,” Antonio drew attention to himself, seeing as the two had forgotten about him.
“Good, keep sitting there and be quiet while you’re at it,” Alejandro started and Zabelle who had taken a sip of the wine, almost choked on it due to what Alejandro had said.
She was liking him with every passing second, as he was one of the people who could pat Antonio in his place.

“Next up, we have this piece of jewelry set, which was the last design of the famous jeweler Anne Plough before she died. The starting bid is one hundred thousand dollars,” Zabelle heard the auctioneer said and when she turned to look at the necklace, her eyes shone with how beautiful it was.
It was the first thing to draw her attention all night, but where was she supposed to get a hundred thousand to spend on it, and even if she had it, she wouldn’t be spending it on the jewelry
“Do I hear one hundred thousand?” The auctioneer asked, and Jeremy raised his placard.
Obviously he was getting it for Vanessa, Zabelle thought to herself as she clenched her fists over her sister taking another thing she wanted.
“One hundred thousand, do I hear one hundred and fifty thousand?” The auctioneer asked and, to Zabelle’s surprise, Antonio finally raised his placard.
Alejandro clapped and whistled excitedly as he knew things were finally going to get interesting.
Just like Antonio, he found the whole auction to be boring, especially as the two of them would write a check at the end of the night.
Turning to face him, Zabelle saw him looking at the auctioneer. She opened her mouth to speak, but when she realized that the people in the room were still staring at her, she swallowed her words.
“One hundred and fifty thousand, do I hear one hundred and eighty thousand?” The auctioneer asked, and Jeremy raised his placard as he glared at Antonio, who didn’t even spare a glance at him.
“Two hundred and fifty thousand,” Antonio said before the Auctioneer could speak, and the others started whispering among themselves, curious to know who would win the face–of
“Three hundred thousand,” Jeremy immediately countered.
“Two million dollars,” Antonio stated, and everyone gasped at how far he took the bidding to. He considered it a waste of time to keep going back, especially with Jeremy.
“Two million dollars, do I hear two points one million dollars?” The auctioneer asked and everyone looked at Jeremy waiting for him to speak.
“Isn’t that too much money to spend on a jewelry set?” Zabelle asked Alejandro, as she didn’t think Antonio was in the mood
to talk.
“Our family is worth billions of dollars and so is Antonio, two million dollars is a meager sum for him.” Alejandro told
Zabelle.
“Besides, he’d rather pay that sum than lose to anyone, especially Jeremy,” he added.
But why did he place a bid on the set? Was it because Jeremy had also done so? Zabelle wondered and care to agree with
that conclusion.
“Sold!” She heard the Auctioneer bang the gavel and everyone chipped.
Her eyes darted over to where Vanessa and Jeremy were seated, and if looks could kill, Antonio would be dead just by how they were glaring at him.
She hummed in satisfaction over Vanessa being denied what she wanted Boy did it feel good.
When the auction came to an end, Antonio was bombarded by people who wanted to try to get into his good books. “Antonio, my boy, who’s the beautiful woman who accompanied you?” A man who looked like he was in his sixties asked.

“My fiancée.” Antonio answered without a second thought, and everyone’s mouth dropped wide open over his response, as they weren’t expecting it.
The attention she received after that was too much for her to bear and so, Zabelle excused herself to go t
the restroom.
Thankfully, there was no one there when she got there, and she immediately opened the water faucet to wash her hands. seeing as she couldn’t splash water on her face due to the makeup she was wearing.
Halfway through, the door opened and when she turned to look at who it was, the colour drained from her face when she saw that it was Jeremy.
