Chapter 29
Zabelle was dumbfounded, as she didn’t know how to respond to Antonio,
His order was a difficult one to ignore, as she didn’t think she would be able to do so, especially as the man seemed to want to form a connection with her.
“Okay,” she however said, as she didn’t want to further annoy Antonio.
However, she would have to speak to him about it as if he truly didn’t want her around his father, he would have to speak to William about it as she wasn’t going to ignore him if he came to her.
Seeing that she didn’t argue, Antonio started the car, and he drove out of the mansion. “Get rid of the ponytail,” he broke the silence halfway through their ride, and this made Zabelle an eyebrow at him.
“Huh?” She muttered, as his request was strange and out of the blue.
“Your hair, let it down,” Antonio made it clear. Her hair was always tied into a ponytail, and it was irritating to see that he had observed it.
“I like my hair like this,” Zabelle stated. Due to the fact she liked having her hair long but didn’t have the time to always take care of it, she began tying her hair into her signature style, and gradually it became a habit.
“I don’t like it, take it down!” Antonio demanded. Having seen her with her hair down, he preferred it as it accentuated her features, but she didn’t need to know this. All she needed to do was to let it down.
Zabelle hissed under her breath as she reached out and pulled the scrunchie away from her hair. Her hair immediately fell, and she used her fingers to make it look presentable.
“Are you happy now?” Zabelle scoffed. Just when she thought he couldn’t get more controlling, he proved her wrong. “Yes I am, don’t wear your hair up again,” he told her, and she turned her attention back to the road.
No other words were spoken till they reached the company, and Zabelle sighed as she looked at the place where it had all begun.
If only, she thought to herself as she made a list of things that had she done differently, she wouldn’t be in her current predicament.
“Do you need an invitation to get out?” She heard Antonio ask her and her mood worsened.
One day, she would reach her limit and stab him but till then, she had no choice but to put up with him. So, she opened the door and got out of the car
When she walked up to him, he took her by surprise by running his fingers through her hair so it would look better. Was there really a tiny bit of kindness in him? Zabelle wondered as she let him do as he pleased.
“There, at least you won’t look like an idiot beside me,” he remarked, and just like that, the hope she had for him vanished. Of course, it was for his selfish reason as he had a big ego. “Asshole!” she muttered under her breath.
“What did you say?” Antonio asked.
“I said thank you,” Zabelle lied as she turned to look away from him.
“You’re a terrible liar,” Antonio asserted as he turned and started to make his way into the building, which left Zabelle wondering whether he had heard what she had said or not.

Putting that to the back of her head, as he hadn’t said anything else about it, she followed him into the company. When they got in, the employees who were on the ground floor gaped in shock, as her presence there was only solidifying what was trending
A simple look from Antonio brought them back to their senses, and they quickly scrambled back to work. She wordlessly followed him to the private elevator and when the doors opened, she hesitated in getting in..
“Waiting for another Prince Charming to arrive,” Antonio quipped.
“Why are you so mean?” Zabelle cried out as she got into the elevator. “I already told you that I was framed by Mr Dumong.” she stood her ground.
“Remind me of why he framed you, again?” Antonio yawned.
“Because I refused to sleep with him,” Zabelle responded. “And since you already know about Jeremy, do you think I’d want to get your attention after waiting for him for two years,” she tried to reason with him.
Before Antonio could say anything, the doors to the elevator opened and they arrived at the floor where Antonio’s office
Not bothering to continue their conversation, he stepped out of the elevator much to Zabelle’s disappointment.
The employees on the current floor were more professional, as they didn’t make her uncomfortable by stopping to stare at
her.
“Sit on the sofa,” Antonio commanded her when they got to his office. His office was huge, Zabelle thought to herself as she went to sit on the sofa.
They had barely settled in when there was a knock on the door as a man walked in. He bowed slightly to her, after which he turned to face Antonio. “Sir, they called to shift the meeting to an hour later, he informed Antonio
“Hmm, let me know when they are here, Daniel, Antonio stated, and all she could do was to sit quietly. “What else?”
“The PR team wanted to know if they should release a statement about what had been going on about you. Should they confirm or deny the rumours?”
“Tell them to confirm it as it’s true,” Antonio instructed his secretary, who then turned to leave.
“I thought you
liked being private,” Zabelle commented in a bid to get him not to retract his instruction.
“I do, but why hide the fact that I’m getting married,” Antonio retorted with a knowing smile on his lips. She couldn’t find the words to say to him, and so she turned away.
Antonio immediately got immersed in his work, leaving Zabelle bored as she had nothing to do. Why did he drag her all the way to the office if he was going to bore her? She fumed as she brought out her phone to kill the boredom.
“Why did you bring me here if I was going to sit around and do nothing” Zabelle grumbled as she glared at Antonio.
“When it’s time, I’ll let you know,” was all Antonio said before returning his attention to his computer, causing Zabelle to grumble once more.
No one said anything to each other once again, and another hour passed before Antonio finally spoke after receiving a message from his phone.
“It’s time for the meeting, my darling fiancée,” he informed Zabelle as he stood up from his chair. “Good luck,” she wished him sarcastically, but when he reached where she was, he pulled her up. “You’re coming for the meeting,” he told her as he grabbed her hand.

“Why? What for?” Zabelle probed in horror,
“You’ll see,” were Antonio’s words as he led her to the conference room. When they got there, Zabelle paused in her steps when she saw none other than Mr Dumong and her former boss seated
“It’s a pleasure to have you here. Let me introduce you two to my fiancee,” he stated, and he watched as the colour drained from Mr. Dumong’s face.
