Chapter 65
Zabelle’s eyes slowly fluttered open, and she looked at the ceiling to ascertain where she was. The familiar beeping made her realize that she was in the hospital.
Upon that realization, her eyes widened in horror, and she was hit with a sharp pain in her back.
“Ah!” She groaned. How was she still alive. Zabelle asked herself.
She had done what she did with the intention of dying as she saw it as a way of her wish getting fulfilled.
Once she was dead she wouldn’t feel any pain and she wouldn’t have any burden. It was because she had let go that she asked for Antonio not to kill Meredith.
Being shot wasn’t fun, as the pain she felt wasn’t nice. “Zabelle,” she heard a familiar voice, and before she could react to it, he stepped into her view.
“Oh my goodness you are awake,” Antonio exhaled in relief as he tapped the button next to her bed.
He didn’t realize he had fallen asleep, but it seemed his senses were still sharp, as he had heard when Zabelle groaned in pain.
“How do you feel?” He asked her as relief flooded him due to the fact that she had woken up.
“My back hurts,” Zabelle told him and he nodded. Just at that moment, the doctors walked in and they immediately moved to start examining her.
Antonio quickly stepped back so they could do their jobs, but he stayed in the room, as he didn’t want to let her out of his sight.
They asked her the regular routine questions after which they gave her an injection.
As soon as they stepped out, he followed them. “How is she, doctor?” he inquired.
to observe her for a few more days to make sure that there isn’t any “She seems to be doing fine, but we are still going internal bleeding, and she’s all right,” the doctor replied after which he left.
Without wasting time Antonio made his way back into the room He saw Zabelle staring at the ceiling with a bored expression on her face.
“How long was I out for?” She questioned him.
“Two days,” Antonio told her.
“Wow,” she mumbled under her breath. “This seems like the hospital from back home. Did you bring me back?”
Antonio nodded in affirmation as he walked up to her bed and sa beside her.
There were so many things he wanted to say to her, but she had just woken up, and she needed time to adjust. For now, her presence and the fact that she had woken up was going to do.
Zabelle didn’t know what to say to Antonio after what had happened. Was she supposed to talk about the shooting or were they supposed to pretend like it didn’t happen?
When she had taken the bullet for him, she didn’t expect to get to this level, and so she didn’t plan for it.
“I’m hungry,” she opted to say instead.

“Your food is already being arranged, and it will be sent as soon as it’s ready,” he told her.
She had thought he would leave the room but seeing as he didn’t she opted for something different. Sighing, she closed her eyes so she wouldn’t feel the need to talk to him.
Just like he had said, the food came in a few minutes later and Antonio gently tapped her so she could eat.
Helping her sit up, he then proceeded to feed her and Zabelle wasn’t too keen on him feeding her.
Act nice and be a jerk later, that was Antonio’s motto, and she wasn’t ready for another one of his games.
It was the same way he had fed her when she was sick and then after the wedding he had completely abandoned her.
Once she recovered, he would do the same, and it was better if she didn’t open the door for that.
“I can feed myself, thank you,” she said to him, but he shook his head.
“You can’t stress your arm, just let me feed you,” he offered, and it was her turn to shake her head.
“No, I can do it myself!” She insisted.
“Fine,” Antonio didn’t argue any further, and he placed the tray on her leg.
She immediately moved to pick up the spoon and as she brought it to her mouth she groaned in pain and dropped it back due to the pain she felt in her back.
She had been shot at the right–hand side of her upper back, and so it was impossible for her to move that arm without her stressing where she had been shot..
She immediately moved to use her left hand to eat, but it was harder than she thought, as she wasn’t used to the hand.
After struggling with her food for a few more minutes, she turned to face Antonio who had been staring at her patiently waiting for her to give up.
“Can I feed you now?” He asked her, and
she nodded as she had no choice.
He didn’t waste any time in feeding her, and she ate whatever he gave her. She was more hungry than she thought as she finished everything.
Antonio on the other hand was pleased that she had finished everything on her plate, and he placed the tray aside when she was done.
He opened his mouth to speak, but before he could do so, the door opened and Alejandro came in, this time he was accompanied by a female friend, the same one who had followed him to their wedding.
“Oh my goodness, you’re awake,” Alejandro exclaimed, and he shot a glare at Antonio for not telling him about the fact that Zabelle had regained consciousness.
“I woke up not long ago,” Zabelle told him.
“It’s good to have you back!” Alejandro stated just as Antonio’s phone rang.
“I have to take this, I’ll be back,” he told Zabelle before getting up
As he passed by his brother, he tapped him and the latter followed him outside, leaving Zabelle and Alejandro’s friend alone
in the room.
