Chapter 68
Due to the fact that both mother and son spoke at the same time, it was quite hard to discern what had been said.
However, Alejandro got the message and he slowly backed away. “I was just joking,” he said, and he quickly left.
“One of these days, I’m going to rip that boy’s tongue out of his mouth,” Alicia growled in frustration as she watched Alejandro walked away.
Turning back to Zabelle, she said, “Let me go and check on the dishes,” before leaving.
“Come, let me untie this,” Antonio said to Zabelle as he got closer to her and started untying what Alejandro had tied to her wrist.
Zabelle was still puzzled as to why he was acting nice to her. In the past, yes, he did act nice to her while they were in public, but it felt different this time for some reason she was unable to wrap her finger around.
“Thank you,” Zabelle told him as she then started to make her way to the dining table due to the tense atmosphere that was surrounding her and Antonio which felt suffocating.
It felt good to be back home, she thought to herself as she took her seat at the dining table.
A smile broke out on her face when she saw the Garcia family seated and making jokes at the table, while Alicia pulled Alejandro’s hair for what he had done minutes ago.
jovial. Unlike when she had dinner with her family where the atmosphere was tense, the atmosphere where she was She turned the attention away from the family when she saw Antonio dishing out her food from the corner of her
eyes.
Even though the pain had gotten a lot better, she was still having trouble using her hand to do stuff, and as such Antonio had been helping her.
She however didn’t think he would do it in front of his family.
Not ready for that kind of attention, she shook her head at him as she moved to subtly grab the plate he was holding. Antonio sighed as he watched her stress her arm. Ever since she had woken up, she had been insistent on doing things herself, even when it wasn’t convenient for her.
He wasn’t too happy about it, but he wasn’t ready to argue with her in front of the family.
Dinner went by smoothly without a hitch and one by one everyone started to leave.
“Come, dear, let’s get you to bed,” Alicia said to her as the former led her up to the stairs.
Zabelle’s eyes widened in horror when they got upstairs and passed her room to Antonio’s room.
It finally occurred to her that she was now married to Antonio, and therefore she was expected to share the same room as
him.
She didn’t want to be close to Antonio, let alone share the same room as in, but she couldn’t oppose it, as that would look weird in front of his mother.
When they got to his room, Alicia made her seat on the bed. You have to focus on getting better, dear, as there is a whole lot that is happening out there,” she remarked referring to the article that was going on about her.
Zabelle, who hadn’t had access to a phone, was oblivious to what Alicia was talking about and all she did was nod.

‘I’ll ask Antonio later,’ Zabellę stated in her head.

Alicia wanted to say more, but when her daughter–in–law yawned and rubbed her eyes, she knew it was time for her to go. “Come, let me assist you.”
Getting closer, Alicia helped her lay on the bed, after which she pulled the duvet over her.
Would it be odd if she said she wanted the moment to last forever, as she could feel the motherly love coming from Alicia. It felt so nice and made her feel warm and fuzzy inside.
However, as much as she wanted to revel at the moment she couldn’t as the drugs she had been given started kicking in, and she felt her eyes getting heavy.
“Good night,” that was the last thing she heard before she closed her eyes and fell asleep.
Alicia watched her for a few more seconds before turning and leaving the room. When she got back downstairs, she saw Antonio on a phone call.
“I will call you back,” Antonio said when he noticed that his mother was back downstairs.
“Have you not told her about the article that has been trending about her?” Alicia immediately fired at her son as she saw how confused Zabelle was when she touched on the subject.
“No, I haven’t,” Antonio replied.
“Why? She has a right to know?” Alicia probed.
“And she’ll find out in due time,” Antonio asserted.
“But you
know how she tends to overthink things and if she finds out that due to it, our stocks went down, she’ll blame herself and I don’t want that.”
“Oh,” Alicia mumbled. His explanation made sense to her, as he was right.
Zabelle suffered from low self–esteem and low confidence, and if she had found out about it, it would have further diminished the little she had.
“Make sure you tell her and do not let her find out from an external source,” Alicia warned her son.
“I will.”
“Any update about who was responsible for the attack?” She then moved on
d Antonio shook his head.
“I’m guessing he’s smarter this time,” Alicia stated vaguely, and she didn’t need to further explain herself, as he already understood what she was trying to say..
They both had the same suspicion about who was responsible for the attack, and it was none other than Gabriel Pierce “When did you have an update, let me know,” Alicia requested as she gave him a hug.
“Will do. Call me when you get home.” With that, Alicia left and Antonio immediately headed upstairs so he could check up on his wife.
When he got to her room, he knocked and waited for her to open the door. When she didn’t after some time, he assumed she was already asleep, and so he opened the door..
A frown appeared on his face when he didn’t see her in the bed, niffing the air, it didn’t seem like she had even been there. He knew, as she had a unique and pleasant scent, one that alway lingered even when she wasn’t there,

‘Where is she?‘ He asked himself. As soon as he thought about it, the answer came rushing to his head. His mother was really something he said to himself as he headed to his room.
Sure enough, when he got there, he saw her sleeping in his bed. What were the odds that his mother had already had all her stuff move to his room? He wondered as he made his way into the closet.
Predictable,‘ Antonio muttered to himself, shaking his head as he walked back into the room, his suspicion confirmed
Taking a deep breath, he was turned on whether to sleep on the bed or on the sofa.
Turning to look at the sofa, he immediately decided against it. Sure the sofa was great for sitting and alright it was definitely not great for sleeping. Plus, his legs were longer than it. It would be very comfortable to bend his legs to fit.
The king–size bed was big enough for both of them, and it left a lot of space so they wouldn’t have to worry about getting to each other.
He proceeded to take a shower, after which he got dressed and before he got into bed, he checked to see if Zabelle was lying in a comfortable position.
Sighing, he could tell that this was going to be one of those nights where he wasn’t going to be able to get any sleep.
‘But there was no harm in trying, right?‘ he asked himself as he closed his eyes.

Jeremy looked at his phone and he squinted his eyes in annoyance.
It had been days since that article about Zabelle allegedly being dead came out, and Antonio had done nothing to debunk it.
He needed to know if she was still alive or not. She couldn’t die yet, as he had not used her the way he wanted to, and hadn’t come back to him yet.
What was Antonio waiting for to debunk the news? Unlike the last time, when he had ordered for her death when no one knew who she was, people were firing him and his family to reveal the truth about what had happened to her.
If Antonio wasn’t ready to say anything willingly then he would have to push him to do some as you
needed to know.
Picking up his phone, he dialled a number. The receiver answered on the second ring and Jeremy went straight down to business.
“File an anonymous complaint against Antonio and the Garcia family for the alleged murder of Zabelle Pierce,” he instructed, after which he disconnected the call.
Unlike everybody else who was calling Zabelle Valencia, he refused to do so, as the whole marriage between her and Antonio. was a sham.
The day he figured out why Zabelle had gotten married to Antonio was the day that would be the latter’s downfall.
The order had been sent out. All he had to do was to wait for the chaos to ensue.
In order to ensure that the case wouldn’t be kept under wraps due to the status of the Garcia family, the news of the anonymous complaint would be sent to the media, which would force the police to answer to the public.
I’m so smart,‘ he thought, complimenting himself. His plan was foolproof and had a hundred percent chance of succeeding., and it would tell him whether Zabelle was still alive or not.
