Chapter 7 My Company
Before he could finish, I handed the baby to Robin and walked up to slap him across the face.
“Hey, you bitch! How dare you hit my son!”
Sara cried out in anger.
I looked at her, remembering a time when she had been seriously ill. At that time, Anthony was too busy with work, and it was I, this bitch in her words, who had taken care of her, managing everything.
But both Sara and Anthony were the same, ungrateful.
“Diane…” Anthony looked at me with guilt as though he were about to cry.
I stared at the charred remains of our home. “Anthony, we’re done. From now on, I hope you stay away from me and my daughter.”
With that, I grabbed my suitcase and walked past him.

He reached out as if to grab me, but in the end, he could only helplessly freeze, crouching down and crying bitterly.
I moved to a place closer to my workplace with Nina.
Before long, the house was sold through the real estate agent.
The buyer was easygoing, knowing that the house had been burned, and didn’t push for a lower price.
I sold it for one point five million dollars.
Then, I quickly settled into a nice new neighborhood.
Due to my professional skills, I smoothly returned to my old company. Sitting back in my old office, I felt a bit dazed.
But more than that, I felt a sense of peace.
I worked hard during the day and went home to take care of Nina at night. Robin was always worried about me, saying I worked like a superwoman every day.
But Robin didn’t know.
Chapter 1 My Company
Even though life was tiring, I felt fulfilled inside.
My goals were clear.
I knew that everything I was doing was for Nina and me, for a better future.
I thought life would continue this way, calm and steady, but a few months later, Barbara showed up at my company, crying and heavily pregnant.
“Diane, I have no other choice. You know Anthony loves me, but now, because of you, even with my belly this big, he refuses to marry me. I don’t know what to do anymore.”
Barbara’s large belly made people around us look at me with growing curiosity.
I frowned, showing no sympathy for Barbara.
“Barbara, what are you talking about? You were the mistress, and because of you, I ended up divorced right after giving birth to my daughter.
“Now, my daughter and I have nothing to do with him.

Whether he marries you or not is none of my business!”

Barbara knelt beside me, crying like a mess. “But I’m carrying his child!”
I almost laughed. “Barbara, do you even know what you’re saying? You’re carrying Anthony’s child, not mine. Why are you looking for me? Do you think I’m going to marry you?”
The people around us, having figured out the situation, looked at Barbara with expressions of disdain.
“My God, I can’t believe the mistress is still so bold these days. Ms. Heath just gave birth to her daughter, and her marriage fell apart because of her.”
“Does she still have the nerve to come looking for Ms. Heath?”
Barbara couldn’t bear the contempt any longer and ran off in a panic.
However, I heard that Anthony eventually married Barbara.

The reason, I heard, was because Barbara threatened to terminate the pregnancy if they didn’t marry.
His mother was desperate for a grandson, so she forced him to marry Barbara, even threatening to end her life if he refused.
The night before their wedding, Anthony showed up at my door, drunk out of his mind.
He knocked loudly on my door.
I ignored him. I didn’t want to have anything to do with someone as hypocritical as Anthony.
His knocking grew louder and more desperate.
“Open the door!
“Diane, please, just open the door! I’m tired. I want to go home. I want to see Nina.
“Open the door, Diane. I really just want to go home.”
From his voice, I could hear the regret and pain in his words.

I leaned against the door, my thoughts in turmoil with a complicated gaze.
Anthony didn’t know, but our home had long been destroyed by him.
I called the police to have him removed.
The next day, their wedding began. Our mutual friends said Anthony didn’t seem happy at all during the
ceremony.
It was as if he was attending a funeral, not a wedding.
But I didn’t care. Kids changed so quickly. My Nina, once a skinny little thing, had already become chubby and absolutely adorable.
During this time, some people tried to set me up with potential matches. They said that now that I had been divorced and had a daughter, it would be harder to
remarry as I got older, so I should seize the chance while I was still young.
