Chapter 10
“I’ve returned the necklace that Beta Veronica stole from you! Look!” He opened his hand to reveal the necklace.
However, as soon as he turned his back, I realized that the gift had long since lost its significance. It didn’t matter whose possession it ended up in; to me, anything associated with Beta Veronica and the man I once loved was utterly revolting.
Noting my silence, Alpha Simon grew
uneasy.
“I truly understand now! After you left, I reviewed the security footage from home. On that day, you never even approached her; it was all her fabrication. It’s my fault that I doubted you and was misled by her. You can

hold it against me, but give me a chance to make amends!”
“We’ve known each other for a decade and grew up side by side. We promised each other we’d walk down the aisle. Have you forgotten?” he urged, trying desperately to tug at the strings of our shared past.
As he spoke, I nodded slowly, observing the gloom cloud his eyes. “Alright, let’s say I’ve forgotten. Perhaps I’m the one who fell out of love first. Think whatever you like; it’s your choice.”
With a shrug, I continued, “As you see, I’m already married. I mentioned before that we’re finished. There’s no reason for further
contact.”
No sooner had I spoken than he anxiously pulled a small album from his pocket. It held

9,998 carefully crafted photos, reminiscent of the one I had burned.
Before he could utter a word, I grabbed the album and hurled it into the nearby lake. He was stunned, and before he could understand what happened, he dove into the water, trying to recover it. But it was too late; the album had already vanished.
Just like our relationship, it was beyond recovery. As I watched him climb out of the lake, drenched and pathetic, I delivered my final words with an impassive expression.
“Alpha Simon, we were never truly mates. We never marked each other, but today, I’m going to say goodbye properly.”
“I, Elena Cummings, reject you, Simon Hewitt, as my mate.”

“Stop causing trouble, don’t make me look down on you. Let these ten years remain in your memories.”
“Don’t ruin the last good memory I have of you.”
With those words, I turned and walked away without a backward glance. Alpha Logan awaited me at the hotel’s entrance. I got into the car with him, driving away as Alpha Simon watched in despair.
Goodbye, my ten years.
