Chapter 3
Perhaps my reaction was too intense, or maybe Alpha Vucevic realized he had gone too far this time. After a long pause, he looked at me with a serious expression.
“This is the last time. This won’t happen again. Let’s live our lives well,” he promised. But he quickly broke his vow.
He couldn’t ignore Violet.
Violet’s matters always took precedence over mine.
“Brother Vucevic, where are you? Are you going to leave us, your family, behind?
“I had a nightmare. I’m so scared that the suspect will come after me.

“Brother Vucevic, could you come see me? Ariel has doctors and nurses around her, but I only have you.”
While helping me peel an apple, Alpha Vucevic’s phone suddenly vibrated. He accidentally hit the speaker button when he answered, and Violet’s sobs filled the air.
“You promised Felix you’d take good care of me and the child. It’s only been half a year, and now your promise means nothing?”
He glanced back at me awkwardly, pressing the phone closer to his ear, and promptly changed his tone.
“I’m on my

With that, he hung up the phone and gave me a troubled look.

“Violet is alone in the hospital. I’ll go check on her and be back soon.”
My wolf, Elias, almost instantly changed his expression, “This unreliable guy is too much!”
I met his gaze in silence.
He had just promised to stay with me and live our life well together.
How could he forget so quickly?
“I’ll be back.”
Alpha Vucevic’s words were as unreliable as a gambler’s, lacking any credibility.
I lay on the hospital bed, surrounded by the cold, beeping machines and the wall clock

facing the nurses‘ station.
The hour hand went round and round.
After Alpha Vucevic left, he never returned.
As the clock completed two cycles, my condition suddenly worsened.
My eyelids were heavy; I could barely open them a crack, and my consciousness began to slip away.
I heard hurried footsteps, coming and going around me.
They were discussing my condition, talking about emergency plans.
“Notify Alpha Vucevic immediately. Luna has a ruptured uterus and severe bleeding. Surgery is urgent!”

“We can’t reach Alpha Vucevic on the phone. What should we do…”
“Keep trying. Luna’s life is in danger. We must contact her family.”
Many people surrounded me, carrying out the rescue systematically.
Just as the anesthesia took effect, the nurse finally reached Alpha Vucevic.
His irritated voice drifted ruthlessly into my ears through the receiver.
“She was fine just a couple of days ago. How did her condition suddenly worsen? Is Ariel trying to trick me again? She’s always so impulsive. Can’t she stop troubling me at times like this?”

The nurse looked at me sympathetically and brought the phone to my ear, hoping I could say something to him myself.
Before I could speak, Alpha Vucevic’s words continued to pour out like a machine gun.
“Ariel, Violet has post–traumatic stress from the kidnapping. She can’t eat, and she needs support.
“Please be sensible. I’m exhausted. Stop making a fuss.”
With that, he hung up. When the nurse tried calling again, he had already blocked the number.
The doctors and nurses looked at each other, their gazes filled with indescribable sympathy and pity for me.
