Chapter 7
Her voice was unbearably grating, and I finally lost my patience, slapping her hard- twice.
“This is for me and my child! A selfish woman like you will face your karma sooner or later!”
The thought of my unborn baby brought tears to my eyes instantly.
Violet spat venomously, “What gives you the right to have Vucevic’s child? The bastard in your belly doesn’t even deserve to live!”
She braced her hands on her back as she stood up, her eyes both shameless and malicious.

“It’s just a shame that the thugs who kidnapped you were so incompetent, leaving unfinished business. Next time, you won’t be so lucky. I’ll send you straight to hell–to meet your child there.”
“From the moment I knew you were pregnant, I never intended to let you give birth. Vucevic’s child can only be mine–born of me and him!”
I stared at her pregnant belly, my emotions teetering at the edge of collapse, an uncontrollable impulse making my hand extend toward her.
But in the next second, the sound of a car horn from downstairs jolted me back to my
senses.
I withdrew my hand immediately, forcing myself to resist doing something I’d regret.

A flicker of disappointment flashed in Violet’s eyes.
“I’ve told you before, whatever I lay my eyes on first, I must have. Vucevic is mine, even at the cost of my own child.
“That bastard of yours, born without a father? Losing it would just be for the best!”
As she spoke, she shuffled closer, step by step, before doing something that utterly shocked me.
A sly grin crept onto Violet’s lips. Her frail body leaned backward, and at a certain angle, it appeared as though I had pushed her.
The next moment, she fell hard to the ground, her lower back slamming against the

edge of the coffee table.
Before I could even react, she was clutching her stomach, wailing in pain.
“Ariel, please! Don’t hurt my child! I’ll stay far away from Vucevic–I promise! Just don’t hit me again…”
She cowered, clutching her head as her body trembled, begging for mercy.
The stark contrast between her earlier smugness and her current pitiful act was as stark as day and night.
Her sudden shift
.. left me stunned.
My body instinctively moved forward to help her
up, but before I could, my outstretched hand was slapped away by Alpha Vucevic, who stormed in at full speed.

“Ariel, touch her one more time, and I dare. you!”
His strength wasn’t held back, and I was flung to the floor, my head striking the cabinet door hard. Blood began to trickle down the side of my face.
I stared vacantly at his enraged expression, allowing the warm crimson to blur my vision.
Violet’s eyes reddened, her tears streaming onto his hand as her voice trembled.
“Vucevic… You’re finally here.
“No matter how much I begged Ariel for mercy, she just wouldn’t stop. She hit me so, so hard…
Suddenly, her body convulsed in pain,

collapsing weakly into Alpha Vucevic’s arms, trembling uncontrollably.
“It hurts… My stomach hurts so much. Vucevic, please save my baby! I can’t lose him… He’s Felix’s child…”
Her words were incoherent, her breathing growing weaker by the second.
At the mention of Felix, a deep pain and guilt flashed across Alpha Vucevic’s eyes.
And when his hand brushed against the blood on her dress, his pupils visibly shook.
Without hesitation, he scooped Violet into his arms and rushed to leave. As he passed me, his face was dark and frightening, his words like knives.
“If Felix’s child can’t be saved, Ariel, you and I

are through!”
I scrambled to shout in desperation, “No! She’s lying! This is all her twisted act! How can you believe her? I’m the one who’s been hurt!”
But my protests fell on deaf ears. I slumped back onto the floor, feeling all strength leave my body in an instant.
Staring at the crimson stain spreading beneath me, I couldn’t suppress the grief any longer. I covered my face with my hands and broke into sobs.
It wasn’t guilt that overwhelmed me–it was bitterness, a flood of injustice drowning my heart.
The child I had fought so hard to conceive, Alpha Vucevic’s mistrust, and all this
