Chapter 8
By the time I got my emotions under control and rushed to the hospital, Violet had already miscarried.
Alpha Vucevic slammed his fist against the wall near my ear.
“Ariel, are you satisfied now? My best friend’s child died because of you!”
“You couldn’t protect your own child and didn’t want Violet to be happy, doing everything to harm her. I never realized you were such a cruel–hearted woman!”
His eyes glinted with a chilling intensity, veins bulging on his forehead.
I met his dark gaze and looked down with a

bitter smile.
“Sometimes, I really envy her. She lost her child, but at least she still has you by her side.”
Alpha Vucevic became even angrier. “Even now, you don’t think you were wrong? Violet has lost her child, Felix is gone, and she’ll be all alone! But you, you can have as many children as you want in the future. How dare you say you envy her?”
As many as I want in the future?
I laughed so hard that I bent over, tears and snot coming out.
“Alpha Vucevic, I can’t! Because of her, I’ll never be able to have my own children and can never be a mom again!”

Alpha Vucevic’s gaze turned dark, brows furrowed, not believing a word I said.
“What are you on about now? We’ll have new babies in the future.”
I shouted at him in despair, “No, we won’t! I said no more!”
Alpha Vucevic wa

shocked by my outburst. I rarely yelled at him like that.
Our heated argument caught the attention of the on–duty doctor.
He poked his head out from the room, ready
to warn us.
Upon seeing my face, his anger softened into concern.

“Luna, you just had a hysterectomy.
Shouldn’t you be at home resting? Are you feeling unwell?”
“Hysterectomy?”
Alpha Vucevic latched onto the crucial detail from the doctor’s words. He looked at me with eyes flickering with shock.
I said nothing, in no mood to explain.
My wolf Elias whimpered in heartache, “Ariel, how did things end up like this when you loved each other so much back then…”
Alpha Vucevic, seeing my silence, turned to the doctor for answers.
“Tell me it’s not true. How could she have had such surgery and why was I never told?”

The doctor looked between us, a hint of irritation flashing in his eyes.
“Luna suffered a uterine rupture, causing massive bleeding and shock. We needed a family consent form, but when we called, you hung up on us.”
Alpha Vucevic was left speechless.
He had been preoccupied with Violet during that time, so how could he have known?
“Ariel…”
Maybe it had been too long since I heard Alpha Vucevic call me with such familiarity; it made me a bit nauseous.
But he ignored my look of disgust, hanging his head to comfort himself.

“It’s okay. We can always adopt. We’ll love an adopted child as our own–blood relations don’t matter.”
He softened his tone.
I looked at him without saying a word.
Alpha Vucevic reined in his aggression, and upon seeing the wound under my bangs, his eyes filled with a mix of regret and care.
He leaned forward, reaching for me but I pulled away.
“Does it hurt? Come on, let me take you to get it treated.”
He insisted, grabbing my hand, as Violet’s urgent voice came from behind.
“Brother Vucevic!”
