Chapter 9
The first thing Violet did when she woke up was to confront Alpha Vucevic.
“Brother Vucevic, I’ve never harmed her, yet she killed my child.
“You promised Felix before he died that you would take good care of me. How can you forgive such a heartless woman!”
Tears streaming down her face, she put on an air of utter heartbreak.
Alpha Vucevic’s eyes darkened, his
expression conflicted.
“Violet, we owe you an apology.”
Violet glanced at his tightly held hand in

mine, and her gaze turned cold.
“Brother Vucevic, it’s not you; it’s her!
“A life for a life. I want her brought before the werewolf court to face justice!”
Alpha Vucevic hesitated.
I looked at his face, wanting him to admit it, even though I already knew the answer.
“Do you really believe I pushed her? Am I really that despicable in your eyes?”
Alpha Vucevic’s face was tense, and he gave me a heavy look.
His reaction said it all.
I sneered and pulled my hand away from his.

Violet chimed in, “Brother Vucevic, don’t forget your promise to Felix!”
Felix was a strong reason, and in an instant, Alpha Vucevic compromised with Violet.
“Ariel, if you’ve done something wrong, you must face the appropriate punishment. Don’t make this difficult for me.”
I stared at Alpha Vucevic, unsure of what I felt.
After being his Luna for three years, he knew me less than strangers do.
I let out a cold laugh, any trace of affection for him gone.
“Fine, since you said that, I want you to swear as Alpha, to the Moon Goddess, that no matter who makes a mistake, you will be

impartial.”
My wolf, Elias, murmured, “Exactly, make sure he can’t backtrack. If he tries, it’ll be too late!”
Alpha Vucevic responded without hesitation, “Of course!”
“Good, Alpha Vucevic. I hope you abide by your words. If you break your promise, the Moon Goddess won’t forgive you!”
With that, I immediately called the werewolf court’s judge.
Eden got the message and rushed over too.
Seeing the tension, he couldn’t help but interject.
“Alpha Vucevic, is there a misunderstanding?

I believe Ariel wouldn’t do such a thing.”
“What misunderstanding! Would I sacrifice my own child just to set her up? You need to have evidence for such claims!”
Violet, sitting in her wheelchair, rebutted with vigor, showing no signs of weakness from her miscarriage.
Eden muttered softly, “I’m just puzzled. Ariel has done a lot of charity work for children. over the years, volunteering at orphanages whenever she can. Someone who loves kids that much wouldn’t be so cruel.”
It’s ironic that, though Eden is Alpha Vucevic’s friend, he trusts me more.
At this moment, I don’t know whether to laugh or cry.

However, Alpha Vucevic said angrily, “Eden, you work at the werewolf police station and are known as the top detective. I expected more from you, but I’m surprised by your recklessness. Just because you know her a little, you declare she couldn’t do it. If you’re so rash, how many cold cases will happen under your watch?”
“One–sided story? Are you talking about yourself, judging me based on Violet’s words?”
I scoffed, not saving him any face in front of outsiders.
“I saw the truth with my own eyes, and you still deny it?” Alpha Vucevic’s face was as dark as coal.
“Seeing isn’t always believing.”

I squinted and smiled, then opened my phone, connected to the home surveillance, and played the footage.
“Why don’t you take a look at this before you jump to conclusions?”
