Chapter 12
Alpha Vucevic had completely lost his patience. With a wave of his hand, he motioned for the members of the Werewolf Court to take her away.
Then, he turned around, his fiery gaze fixed on my retreating figure.
Sensing his intensity, I lifted my head, paused for a moment, and walked toward him.
His dark eyes brightened, an intense, complicated emotion surging beneath the depths of his black irises.
“Now that everything is over, it’s time to dissolve the mate bond,” I said.

He froze, stunned, his expression blank and bewildered.
“I won’t dissolve it. You still love me, and I still love you. Why does it have to come to this?”
I pulled down the collar of my shirt on one shoulder, revealing the red, swollen scars that had yet to heal. They painted a shocking picture.
Alpha Vucevic’s breath hitched.
“This is your first time seeing them, isn’t it? During all those days I spent in the hospital, the doctors came every day to change my dressings. If you had stayed with me even just once, you wouldn’t look so surprised
now.

everyone in this pack respects–everyone but me. You were never a good husband.
“I endured those dark and difficult times on my own. Tell me, what do I need you for now?”
Alpha Vucevic’s towering figure swayed, suddenly as fragile as glass–ready to shatter at the slightest touch.
He never agreed to my proposal. Every time I brought it up, he would invariably tell me he was busy with work and couldn’t take the time to go to the altar with me to dissolve the bond.
But one night, during a torrential rainstorm, I woke with a start, frightened by the crash of thunder. I suddenly remembered that I hadn’t closed the balcony door.

I got up to close it and, by chance, looked down to see a familiar car parked below. Inside, a faint red glow flickered before vanishing.
It wasn’t the first time. On countless nights when I got up for a glass of water, I could see Alpha Vucevic leaning against his car, a glowing ember glowing between his fingers, surrounded by a circle of cigarette butts at his feet.
When he looked up at me, defeated and broken, I would abruptly turn and draw the curtains.
For half a year, Alpha Vucevic dragged his feet, refusing to sever the mate bond.
This time, I’d had enough. I stormed downstairs. His dull, lifeless eyes suddenly lit up with a glimmer of hope.

“Ariel”
“Alpha Vucevic, since you’re not busy now, let’s go to the altar.”
The light in his eyes completely vanished. After a long silence, he curled his lips into a bitter smile.
“Alright, I agree. I’ll set you free.”
I got into his car, and together, we drove to the altar.
When it was time, he hesitated with his hand hovering in the air.
I lost my patience. “Hurry up, don’t make me angry at a time like this!”
Alpha Vucevic cast me a reluctant glance,

Because finally, I would be free.
As I left, my wolf Elias exhaled in contentment and said with genuine joy, “Ariel, this is wonderful. It’s all over now. From this moment on, you’re finally free to live your own life.”
Alpha Vucevic, meanwhile, seemed on the brink of saying something, his eyes clouded with turmoil. After a long silence, he broke into a pained shout at my retreating figure.
“Ariel! Live your life well! If you ever feel exhausted or lost, if you ever want to return, I’ll be right here, waiting for you!”
I didn’t hesitate for even a second. I hailed
a cab, climbed in, and told the driver, “Sir, please, drive quickly.”
Everything I’d experienced before, I would
