Chapter 3
Alpha Alexander marched forward and yanked me roughly, inadvertently aggravating my wound. A sharp gasp. escaped my lips as pain shot through me.
“Quit the act, Leona,” he sneered. “As long as you obediently give Angelia your blood, I’ll have Aria bring your daughter here so you can see her for a moment.”
The mention of my daughter made my eyes instantly brim with tears.
“She’s *my* daughter! I want to see her! Why should it require Aria’s permission?”
Alpha Alexander’s expression darkened, and he corrected me impatiently. “Angelia is our daughter now. Stop throwing a tantrum, or

you’ll never see your child again.”
Hearing his words, I ceased struggling.
“Alpha Alexander, I’ll agree to give blood, but you have to bring my daughter back to me.”
He gave no response, instead calling for the doctors and nurses to draw my blood.
His mind at this point was entirely consumed by thoughts of Aria’s daughter. It was clear he couldn’t care less about anything else.
Lying on the hospital bed, I watched as a thick needle pierced my vein. In the background, I heard Alpha Alexander comforting Aria.
“Don’t cry anymore, or your eyes will swell,
and it’ll hurt.”

Just the sight of Aria sobbing tugged at his heartstrings.
For me? He offered nothing but icy indifference.
“Take more blood,” he ordered coldly. “Angelia’s life depends on it.”
The nurse hesitated, glancing between him. and my pale face. Her unease was obvious, though she spoke cautiously due to his status.
“Alpha, we can’t draw any more blood. Luna’s lips are already white–if we continue, she might go into shock.”
Alpha Alexander’s brow furrowed.
Aria, dissatisfied, muttered under her breath,

“Leona was fine just a moment ago. It’s only a little blood–it shouldn’t be a big deal.”
Before I lost consciousness, I heard Alpha Alexander insist firmly, “It’s not enough. Keep going.”
When I opened my eyes again, it was five hours later.
There wasn’t a soul in the room with me -just the stark emptiness of the hospital room. A nurse on duty rushed to my side immediately.
“Luna, you scared us half to death. Thank goodness you’re alright–otherwise, we wouldn’t know what to do.”
I listened silently to her chatter. But as she spoke her last few words, my unfocused gaze finally found clarity, and I instinctively

looked toward the door.
Alpha Alexander had promised to bring my child back to me.
The young nurse noticed my line of sight and seemed to struggle with her emotions, sympathy flickering in her eyes.
She wanted to say something but ultimately held her tongue. I imagine Alpha Alexander was off with Aria and their child.
I remained impassive. After everything that had happened, my heart for Alpha Alexander had long gone cold.
A husband who would stoop so low as to swap out my child out of guilt wasn’t worth having.
All I wanted now was to take back the

daughter I had so desperately brought into this world.
My wolf, Daisy, wept silently. “Leona, my heart aches for you. You’re a brave and amazing mother. You’ll find your daughter- you will.”
Finally, come nighttime, Alpha Alexander strolled in, holding a baby.
I ripped the IV needle from the back of my hand and bolted toward him, not even bothering to put on shoes. I reached out hurriedly to take the baby from his arms.
Carefully, I peeled back the blanket, desperate to see my daughter’s face.
What greeted me instead was the face of Aria’s child.

The nervous, excited hope in my chest plummeted to the depths of despair.
Setting down the baby, who began crying sharply, I turned to face Alpha Alexander with chilling anger.
“Why is it *her*? I want my daughter! Where is she?! Give her back to me!”
“Angelia is unwell. She’s not used to formula,” he replied smugly. “You’ll nurse her, just like before.”
His features softened with tenderness as he held the child again, carefully keeping his voice low to avoid startling her further.
He wanted me-*me*-to breastfeed Aria’s baby?
I stared at him unblinkingly, the pain of my

unhealed wounds throbbing faintly beneath the surface.
“Alpha Alexander,” I said slowly, my tone dangerously flat. “I told you I only want to see my daughter. Don’t bring anyone else into my sight, or I can’t guarantee what I might do next.”
Alpha Alexander’s expression contorted with fury, but when he met my gaze, he faltered, his anger momentarily caught in his throat.
Clearing his throat, he tried again. “Angelia is crying and starving. Feed her–now.””
I didn’t move. I refused to acknowledge him.
Alpha Alexander’s patience snapped as he violently grabbed my hand, the veins in his arm bulging with tension.

“Leona, that’s enough! You’re a mother too -how can you be so heartless?! If you want to see your daughter, don’t make this harder than it already is!”
He thrust a breast pump into my lap, his frustration overflowing.
The room filled with the deafening wails of the baby in his arms.
A few days ago, I might have rushed to soothe her.
Now? I remained completely still, immune to his threats.
I no longer trusted him.
If I wanted to find my daughter, I’d have to do so myself.

“Leona! Don’t make me force your hand!” Alpha Alexander roared, his temper snapping entirely. His outburst only compounded the baby’s hysterical sobbing.
Raising my head, I stared him down coldly, my gaze sharper and more ruthless than his.
“Alpha Alexander, don’t provoke me at a time like this. If you do, I promise you’ll regret it more than you could ever imagine.”
Daisy chimed in with firm resolve. “That’s right, Leona. We’re not afraid of him.”
Alpha Alexander scoffed, a mocking sneer spreading across his lips.
“I’m the Alpha here, and you’re just some orphan. If the Elders hadn’t intervened, I would’ve never made you my mate. Everything you have comes from me. What

gives you the right to threaten me?”
Orphan.
Ah, yes. In Alpha Alexander’s eyes, I had always been insignificant.
Compared to Aria, an Omega, I was profoundly unworthy.
He’d never truly cared about me or my wellbeing.
And naturally, he had no idea that I wasn’t an orphan at all.
Gazing at his cold, disdainful face, my heart sank deeper into anguish. Rage surged through me, and in a fit of wild desperation, I pushed him out of the room.
The door had barely closed behind him when
