Chapter 11
I saw Alexander again a week later.
His eyes were sunken, his chin covered in stubble, and his clothes reeked of a sour stench.
Holding my daughter, I stood at the doorway, refusing to let him in.
His eyes welled up.
“Leona, I can’t live without you. I’ve thought it through. Can we get back together? The child needs a father”
My wolf, Daisy, immediately became alert. “Leona, don’t let your heart soften. Remember the humiliation you endured before. You can’t make the same mistake

twice.”
Of course, I’m not foolish enough to forget the pain I went through just because he shed a few tears.
So I smiled sarcastically at him, “What kind of father are you? Having a father like her misfortune.”

Alexander staggered, a look of pain crossing his sallow face.
“I’ll learn to be a good father; it’s my first time being one…”
He forced a smile to prove himself and reached out to hold the little one.
The next second, the little one burst
into tears, as if she had seen something terrifying.

“Mommy, scared.”
At just over a year old, she could barely string together a few words.
She could call for mommy and uncle, but never daddy.
“Don’t be scared, sweetheart. Mommy’s here.“”
I patted her back and gently soothed her.
Alexander retracted his hand, his expression pained and wounded.
Since she was born, he hadn’t once held her or smiled at her.
And now he knew he had to fulfill his duties as a father? Too late!

Alexander had a fleeting look of self–mockery as he lowered his head, holding back tears. “I failed you both.”
He should keep those words to himself.
I shut the door, shutting him out. When he came back again, I never opened the door.
The next time I saw Alexander was six months later.
I was accompanying a friend to look at houses, and coincidentally, the one she was interested in was Alexander’s.
Apparently, Alexander was in dire need of money; otherwise, he wouldn’t be selling the house so cheaply.
“I heard the owner is sick and urgently needs

money for treatment, which is why they want to sell the house quickly.”
Hearing my colleague’s words, I caught a glimpse of Alexander.
He was pushing a wheelchair, his pant legs empty and swaying in the wind, his upper body emaciated.
I almost didn’t recognize him.
“Leona, did you come to see me?”
He turned his wheelchair excitedly, his eyes full of longing.
“Don’t get the wrong idea. I asked her to come look at the house with me,” my friend quickly explained, pulling me behind her.
I crossed my arms and looked down at him

coldly.
Alpha Alexander’s tears suddenly fell.
Oh, he’s not an Alpha anymore.
He mumbled to himself, his eyes red.
“I’ve fallen to this point; how dare I still hope for your forgiveness?
“I misjudged people. Aria was never as good as you. She was the one who cost me my leg.
“After I lost my rule, we fought constantly. In a fit of rage, she drove into me.
“I’m luckyed. This time, I didn’t
protect her. I had her sent to the werewolf prison. It’s a belated compensation for swapping the child on you!”

I felt no emotion in the face of his apology.
Instead, I asked, “You didn’t actually believe that child was yours and Aria’s, did you?”
Alexander looked at me, shocked.
I kindly informed him of a truth.
“Angelia isn’t your child. When I wanted a divorce, I secretly did a paternity test with hair samples taken from you both, and you weren’t biologically related.
“I couldn’t understand back then why you’d swap your own child for one with no blood relation.
“Turns out, your supposed destined mate fooled you. This might just be karma for hurting my daughter.”

Alexander’s face went pale.
As I turned to leave, Alexander called out to
- me.
“Leona, I was wrong, I was wrong…”
I turned back with a smile, “But my child and I will never forgive you.”
Alexander covered his face, crying like a child.
I ignored the sobbing behind me and turned toward a single life filled with freedom and new beginnings.
The End.

When the pack was attacked, chaos erupted. Bran’s favorite girl abandoned him, fleeing like the others, leaving him broken and alone. I stayed. With my suitcase in hand, I chose him over my own safety, nursing him back to strength while the pack crumbled around us.
Three years passed. I endured his anger, his coldness, believing my loyalty would matter. But then she returned–the one who left him to die. He welcomed her back like nothing had happened, his rage shifting fully to me.
I had given him everything, yet he left me with nothing but heartbreak.
So, I left.
I walked into a new pack, hoping for a fresh
art, and found Alpha Steven. One look, and my wolf whispered the truth: Mate.
