Chapter 6
Three days later, Bravado’s parents returned from their trip.
As soon as they stepped in, they saw me sitting on the couch.
“Ah, so this is Rona?”
Bravado’s mom immediately walked over and took my hand, her gaze filled with affection.
“Hello, Auntie, Uncle.”
I nervously stood up.
“Sit down, don’t be so polite.”
Bravado’s dad smiled and nodded at me.

“Mom, Dad, this is Rona, the one I told you about.”
“We know, Bravado has mentioned you many times.”
His mom chuckled, patting my hand. “When he was younger, he always talked about you. He finally gets his wish.”
I looked at Bravado in surprise, and he awkwardly avoided my gaze.
“He’s always been thinking about you. Now that you’re here, we’re all happy!”
My heart warmed. I hadn’t realized Bravado cared so much about me.
That night, Bravado took me for a walk.

“Rona, there’s something I want to tell you.”
He suddenly stopped, looking at me with seriousness.
I felt a twinge of foreboding.
“Actually, I…” Bravado took a deep breath, gathering his courage.
“I’ve liked you for a long time. Since we were kids, I’ve had feelings for you. When we parted ways, I thought I’d never see you again, but you were always in my heart.”
Though I was somewhat prepared, his words still stunned me.
“I know you’ve been through a lot of pain, but I hope you’ll give me a chance. Let me take care of you, protect you.”

Bravado’s eyes were filled with hope and sincerity.
Tears welled in my eyes as I was touched by his words.
Everything I’d experienced with Bravado these past few days–the care, the warmth -made me feel something I hadn’t in a long time.
“I…”
I opened my mouth, but he interrupted.
“Wait, don’t answer yet.” He pulled out a small gift box and handed it to me.
Inside was a beautiful pair of earrings.
“They’re lovely, thank you.”

“And this.”
He pulled out a lighter and lit a sparkler.
The sparkler bloomed with brilliant light, illuminating our faces.
“Will you give me a chance and be my mate?”
Bravado’s gaze locked onto mine, filled with longing.
I looked at him, overwhelmed with emotion and happiness. “Yes, I’ll give you a chance.”
Hearing my answer, Bravado hugged me tightly, ecstatic.
“Finally, I’ve been waiting for you.”
We stood there in the glow of the fireworks, wrapped in each other’s arms, as if the whole

world had quieted, leaving only the sound of our hearts beating in unison.
Back at the house, I couldn’t wait to send a message to Granny.
“Granny, I’m with Bravado now. He’s so good to me, and I really like him.”
I eagerly awaited her response, but as time passed, I grew anxious.
She always replied quickly, telling me to take care of myself.
But this time, there was no reply.
I frowned, my unease growing.
Half an hour later, I called her, but there was

Granny always picked up.
“Has something happened to Granny?”
began to panic, planning to call the doctor, when my phone suddenly rang.
I checked the caller ID, and my heart sank–it was my parents.
A sense of foreboding swept over me.
