Lorraine swallowed her bitterness and nodded. “Alright, Aunt. Thank you for handling my things and for taking care of me these past three years in the mansion–
“When did I ever take care of your Delusional. If you only knew how many times I’ve wanted to throw you out! If you had any sense, you would have left on your own a long time ago! Ugh! I’ve never liked you for Callisto. I’m just glad you don’t have any children together because I couldn’t stomach the idea of having an ugly grandchild like you! A disgrace to our family!”
Lorraine bit her tongue to keep from responding. Caroline stormed off, leaving Lorraine free to climb the stairs and head to their room.
Lorraine knew Caroline hated her because she wanted Amber for her son. Callisto and Lorraine had fought about that before. But one day, just before their wedding. Caroline had suddenly treated her with kindness, as if she had transformed from a demon into an angel. Lorraine didn’t know what Callisto had done, but her attitude had changed, and Lorraine thought they were okay. It turned out, however, that Caroline still loathed her. She had always hated her.
Everyone thought Lorraine had stolen Callisto from Amber, which was probably why they didn’t care if Amber took him from her now.
But the truth was, Lorraine had never taken Callisto from Amber. He had never been hers–except maybe now. Back then, Callisto had been the one who liked Lorraine first. He had pursued her relentlessly despite her constant rejections. Lorraine knew they didn’t match. Just look at them- he was handsome, and she was not. She was two years older than him. But with his charm, any woman would fall. What chance did Lorraine have when her heart was so weak?
She wiped her tears as she packed her clothes and other belongings into boxes. She left behind the jewelry and expensive clothes Callisto had given her. She only took what was truly hers.

Cassian was creepy, always giving Lorraine a sticky, unsettling look. Though he wasn’t a criminal, his advances made her uncomfortable.

Lorraine swallowed hard. “No, thank you. Hector is waiting for me outside, so I need to hurry.”
“Your driver can wait. I’m sure you paid him well. Here, let me pour the wine into glasses. Let’s drink.”

Suddenly, Lorraine jolted awake at the sound of Caroline’s voice echoing through the room. Rubbing her eyes, she sat up on the soft bed, her body aching as if she had slept for twenty–four hours straight..
“Cassian, because of the noise you made at the door, my princess woke up?”
Suddenly, a band brushed agaima Lorraine’s check and hair. She froze. Startled, she glanced to her side, her eyes widening when she saw Cassian sitting beside her, shirtless, his chiseled body on full display. But when she looked down at herself, her heart raced in panic–she was wearing nothing but a brat
Before she could process what was happening, her gaze shifted toward the door. There, standing motionless, was Callisto, with Caroline and a few maids behind him.
Callisto’s eyes mei Lorraine’s. His usually cold expression was now laced with shock, his eyes reddened and moist.
“Bro Lorraine…” he muttered, blinking rapidly, disbelief etched on his face as his gaze darted between Cassian and Lorraine, both barely clothed on the bed.
“What?” Lorraine stammered, feeling as though her soul was shipping away.
Before she could react, Cassian wrapped his arms around her. “Habe, sorry about earlier. We got carried away. You didn’t even finish packing your things, and now it’s late”
Packing Lorraine’s thoughts raced as she remembered. She had been packing her clothes when Cassian entered the room, asking her to drink with him. When she refused, he covered her mouth with a cloth, and she had slowly blacked out.
As the memory flooded back, Lorraine’s heart pounded violently. Overwhelmed by fear, confusion, and panic, she looked back at Callisto. But his expression had turned cold, emotionless. Before she could explain, he turned and walked out of the room.

“Wait! Callisto!!” Desperate, Lorraine shoved Cassian away and hurriedly grabbed one of the dresses scattered on the floor, pulling it on as q as she could.
“Relax, Lorraine,” Cassian laughed, unfazed.
“What did you do to me?” Lorraine’s voice shook with tears as she threw a nearby object at him.
He scowled as the object struck his head. “What the hell”
Ignoring him, Lorraine rushed out of the room. Caroline tried to block her way, but Lorraine shoved her aside.
“HEY!!” Caroline’s protest was drowned out by the gasps of the maids who caught her.
Lorraine didn’t s
stop for a second. She flew down the stairs, determined to catch Callisto before he could leave the mansion.
“Callisto! Wait!! Let me explain!!” She ran so fast that she managed to catch up to him just before he reached the gate. Grabbing his arm, she pulled him to a stop
But Callisto yanked his arm away, turning to face her with an icy expression. “My bad. 1 shouldn’t have opened the door, then you wouldn’t have woken up, and I wouldn’t have disturbed you two. But you’ve still got divorce papers to sign, Lorraine. Maybe you should have prioritized that instead of whatever this is
“What?” Lorraine’s voice cracked, tears welling in her eyes. His reaction cut deeper than the scene itself. The divorce papers were more important! She bit her lip, struggling to contain her emotions. “It’s not what you think, Callisto, Cassian, he… he harassed me. I didn’t do anything wrong
“Yeah, right. How many times have you told me my brother was harassing you? And how many times have I defended you? Looks like you were into it all along” Callisto let out a bitter laugh, shaking his head. “But it doesn’t matter anymore, Lorraine. Whether you explain what I saw or not, whether you insist there’s nothing between you two or not, we’re still separating. I don’t care about your relationship with my brother. And you shouldn’t care about me and Amber either. It’s that simple. We’ve both been fooling ourselves, haven’t we!”
Lorraine’s lips trembled. Her chest tightened, and she couldn’t stop the tears from streaming down her face. Her hands shook as she reached out to grasp his hand. “There’s nothing going on between Cassian and me! Callisto, please believe me, even just this once! He drugged me earlier, and when I woke up, I was in bed, and then you were there, so—”
“Right” Callisto let out a weary sigh. “If that’s your truth, then go ahead and press charges against him if you want. But I don’t care anymore, Lorraine. All I want is for you to sign those divorce papers. That way, Amber and I can get married, and Anjic can take my last name.
