her head in denial.
Callisto furrowed his brow, his voice gentle yet tinged with confusion. “Baby, it feels like you don’t remember Cassian anymore?”
Lorraine shifted uncomfortably, feeling a pang of embarrassment under his gaze. “No, I’m sorry,” she murmured, shaking her he
Callisto offered her a faint smile, though his eyes remained emotionless. “No, it’s okay. Maybe I’m just not as remarkable as I thought.”
She caught the subtle shift in his expression and quickly tried to match his mood, smiling softly. “What are you talking about? I’m just getting used to how much Cassian has changed”
“You’re right, baby. My brother “has changed a lot. You know what? He’s now insanely popular! Callisto’s face lit up with pride as he glanced at his once “little” brother, who was clearly far from little anymore. “Don’t downplay yourself, though. That humble look doesn’t suit you anymore. Not like before when you were just a naive–looking kid”
“Yeah?” Cassian replied, his voice cool as he grabbed a glass of wine from a passing waiter and took a sip.
Lorraine swallowed nervously as the two men continued their conversation. She tried to appear calm but couldn’t help but glance at Cassian, feeling a creeping sense of unease. His presence was imposing–his voice, his gaze, everything about him seemed intimidating. Cassian’s eyes frequently darted toward her, especially at the spot where Callisto’s hand rested on her arm, his other draped casually across her back. They sat so close together that their intimacy was unmistakable.
Lorraine forced herself to refocus and stole another glance at Cassian, who was now glaring at Callisto with an

that made her stomach chum. Callisto, however, didn’t seem to notice. Lorraine wasn’t sure if she was overanalyzing or if that was simply hour Cassian looked at people. *Could I be imagining it?”
She shook her head slightly, willing herself not to dwell on it. After all, between the two of them, she probably appeared more suspicious. It would be rude to judge someone she’d only just met
Feeling a growing discomfort, Lorraine glanced up at Callisto with pleading eyes, silently asking him to leave. She wasn’t great at socializing- especially around men- and the entire situation was making her uneasy.
Then she heard it.
“Lorraine
Her name, spoken in Cassian’s deep, chilling voice, sent an electric shock down her spine. She froze, immediately turning to face him, her eyebrows rising in surprise.
“Yes?” she replied, her voice a little breathless.
Cassian pursed his lips, as if caught off guard by her prompt response. His eyes flickered with something she couldn’t quite place, but he quickly regained his dignified composure. He was strikingly handsome, but there was something about him–an underlying menace—that made her wary
“I heard you’ve been trying to break into the business world but haven’t succeeded yet Cassian said, his tone unreadable.
Lorraine blinked, caught off guard d by his sudden question. Had Callisto told him that about her? “Oh?” She swallowed hard, trying to gather her thoughts. “I don’t think it suits me at all, but 1 feel more at peace and fulfilled in my chosen field.
Her answer was sincere, though her family’s expectations had shaped her career path. She had no desire to compete with her brother for the family business inheritance. Even though her family compensated her financially, Lorraine took pride in her ability to stand on her own, earning her way without stirring up conflict. Her mother had always insisted there was no place for women in business, urging Lorraine to marry well instead, just as she had. But Lorraine didn’t want to rely on a husband to define her success.
Though she disagreed with her family’s views, she never argued. It wasn’t worth the effort. Lorraine was content with the life she was building with Callisto quiet and simple, just the way she wanted.
“That’s how it is,” Callisto chimed in with a soft chuckle. “No one starts out successful, especially in business. My baby is just finding her way, and isn’t that so cute?” His grip on her tightened, and Lorraine felt the growing excitement in his voice. “Hey, how long has it been since we last
Her eyes widened in surprise. “What!”
She couldn’t help but recall the last time their lips had met over a week ago. That was the last time she’d agreed to a kiss. Callisto’s pride often collided with her conservative nature, and intimacy between them wasn’t frequent. Though they loved each other, their differences were becoming more apparent with time. Lorraine wasn’t ready for physical closeness, and Callisto didn’t want to keep asking, afraid of rejection
Despite their mutual feelings. Lorraine had always wanted to save her body for marriage. It was a promise she made to herself, believing that pleasure would be best shared as husband and wife.

Her train of thought was abruptly cut short when Callisto’s lips pressed softly against her forehead. He then trailed a gentle kiss down to her eye Lorraine froze, mortified by the public display of affection, surrounded by so many people. “Callisto can be so shameles” She wished she could disappear into thin air.
As he leaned in further, clearly aiming for her lips, her eyes widened even more. She instinctively leaned back, but his hand on her back held her firmly in place.
Then, without warning. Callisto suddenly lifted about three inches off the ground.
Lorraine’s mouth dropped open in shock. She looked up and saw Cassian holding the back of Callisto’s collar with one hand, effortlessly moving him away from her, setting him down a meter away.
Callisto, wide–eyed and incredulous, stared at his brother. “Did you just carry me away!”
“Yes,” Cassian said seriously, his tone flat. “Because you’re drunk. If I hadn’t, you would’ve lost your balance bending over like that.”
Callisto blinked, utterly confused. “What
Lorraine stared at both men, still in shock. “What just happened!
