Chapter 79
Caroline harbored sleep resentment toward Callisto, not merely because he was her nephew, but because he was the son of her sister, Gianna–her younger sister who had always overshadowed her. Memories of the day she suffered the ultimate fuumiliation remained as vivid and painful as if it had just happened yesterday.
That fateful day, she had found herself naked in someone else’s heil.
Her heart had pounded so bercely that she felt it might leap out of her chest Caroline’s pride, panicked eyes had been glued to Conrado, the man lying beside her, still in deep slumber. His muscular arms were cauolly draped across her waist, as though it was the most natural thing in the world. She had stared at him in disbelief, her thoughts racing frantically
Why am I here? Why are we both naked?
She had no memory of what had transpired the night before. It was like her mind had been wiped clean, leaving behind nothing but a gaping void How had she ended up in Conrado’s bed? What had she done to get hear? Her confusion quickly morphed into terror. This was her sister’s fiancé, a man she had no business being this close to let alone naked in hishird
Her hands trembled uncontrollably as she slowly lifted the edge of the blanket and peeked underneath. Her body ached in unfamiliar places, and when she cautiously spread her legs apart, her worst fear was confirmed–the sight of dried blood between her thighs sent a shockwave through
her
She had low her virginity
With her sister’s man!
Tears had welled up in her eyes, blurring her vision. Her body had betrayed her, but she had no recollection of how or why. Panic was swiftly taking over as she clutched the blanket tighter around her naked body, unsure of what to do next.
Then the bedroom door had slammed open, and a voice had pierced through the silence of the room, making Caroline flinch.
“I can’t believe this“”
Gunna stood in the doorway, her face twisted with fury and disbelief. Her eyes, which had always looked upon Caroline with affection, now seethed with hatred. Caroline’s throat had tightened painfully as she desperately tried to explain herself, her voice quivering with fear.
“G–Gianna, this this isn’t what you think!” she had stammered, her mind frantically searching for an explanation, even though she had none.
“Caroline?!” Gianna spat out her name as though it was poison. The venom in her voice was undeniable, and the contempt in her eyes was sharper than any blade
“N–Not I don’t know what happened! Caroline had cried out, her voice trembling as tears cascaded down her cheeks. Please, Gianna, believe me!”
“Silence!”
A deep, commanding voice had cut through Caroline’s frantic pleas, starling her into silence. Conrado, roused by the commotion, was awake His brow was furrowed in confusion as he rubbed his temples, trying to make sense of what was happening. He turned to look at Caroline, his eyes. narrowing in disbelief and anger.-
“What the hell is going on!” he had growled, his voice thick with frustration. His gaze shifted between Caroline and Gianna, his confusion giving way to irritation. “Caroline? What are you doing in my bed
Caroline’s entire body had trembled, the fear coursing through her like ice water. She had no idea what had happened, but she knew it looked incredibly damning Through her sobs, she had barely managed to whisper, “I don’t know…”
Before she could even attempt to explain, Gianna had crossed the room in a flash, her hand fisting in Caroline’s hair. With a brutal yank, she had dragged Caroline out of the bed, throwing her onto the floor
“You, my own sister, dare to crawl into my fiance’s bed?! You slut! You whore!” Gianna’s voice was filled with rage as she attacked Caroline, slapping and scratching her relentlessly.
Caroline had endured it all–the slaps, the scratches, the verbal abuse–whule desperately trying to hold onto the blanket to cover her nakedness. Tears had streamed down her face as she pleaded, her voice hoarse from crying “P–Please, stop! I didn’t know anything! Please, Gianna!” she had begged, the words barely escaping her lips as she choked on her sobs
It felt like a nightmare, one she couldn’t wake up from. Her mind was blank, there was nothing but the chaos of the present moment. How had she ended up in Conrado’s bed! How could she explain something she herself didn’t understand?
“Damn it! Fuck!” Conrado had cursed under his breath, running his hands through his hair in frustration as he watched the two sisters, utterly lost.
Chapter 79
Clama, her face flushed with anger, had finally let go of Caroline’s hair, but her fury was far from spent. Caroline had collapsed onto the floor. trembling and crying. her body aching from the beating and her heart shattered from the accusation. The pain was unbearable, both physically and emotionally.
“I hate you. Conrado! You damn womanizer Glanna had screamed, her voice shrill with fury. She turned on her heel, glaring at him with pure hatred
“Gianna, stop! Please, let me explain!” Conrado had pleaded, but his voice fell on deaf ears
“I’m calling off the wedding? Fuck you, Conrador Gianna had shricked, her voice full of finality as she stormed our of the room, leaving both Conrado and Caroline in stunned silence
“Gianna! Wait! No! This isn’t what you think!” Conrado had shouted after her, his voice growing more desperate as the reality of the situation sank in. But it was too late. Gianna was gone, and she wasn’t coming back.
The heavy silence that followed had weighed down on Caroline like a suffocating blanket. Her whole body had ached from the physical assault, but the emotional pain was far worse. Gianna’s words echoed in her mind, each one cutting deeper than the last.
When she had finally regained some semblance of composure, Caroline had scrambled to gather her clothes from the floor. With trembling hands, she had put them on as quickly as she could, her mind racing with panic. She had to get out of there, away from Conrado, away from the scene of her shame.
Her legs had been shaky, her body weak, but she had forced herself to move. She couldn’t stay there, not for another second. Without looking back, she had fled the room, her heart pounding in her chest, her breath coming in shallow, frantic gasps.
By the time she had reached the hallway leading to her room, her body had been on the verge of collapse. Her mind had been swimming with guilt, confusion, and anger. How had it come to this? How had everything spiraled so horribly out of control?
Before she could even enter her room. Ananda, her best friend, had appeared in the hallway, her eyes widening in horror when she saw Caroline’s disheveled state.
“Caroline W–What happened to you?” Amanda had gasped, rushing toward her. “You… you look like you’ve just been raped”
Amanda’s words had hit Caroline like a slap in the face, triggering a flood of emotions that she had been trying so hard to suppress. The shame, the guilt, the fear–it all came crashing down on her in that moment. She had broken down into sobs, collapsing into Samantha’s arms as her body shook with uncontrollable grief.
Amanda had held her tightly, whispering words of comfon that Caroline barely heard through her sobs. The pain of that day, the humiliation, and the betrayal—it was something Caroline knew she would never forget. And her resentment toward Gianna, toward Conrado, toward everyone who had played a part in her suffering, had only grown stronger with time,
And that resemment had eventually extended to Callino, Gianna’s son. Because every time Caroline looked at him, she was reminded of everything she had lost.
