“Did you hear that? Your sister–in–law told you to get lost,” Jack raised an eyebrow at Leo, seeming quite smug.
Leo ignored him completely.
He stood there frozen, tears falling from the corners of his eyes, his face twitching uncontrollably as he sobbed.
“I’m sorry, Mia. I just… wanted you to look at me more. No one taught me how to love
someone.”
“Please don’t die, okay? It’s fine if you hate me, it’s fine if you despise me, as long as you’re alive and well…”
I didn’t answer him.
Silence was the best memory I could give Lea.
Saving him was out of moral obligation. That day at the beach, I didn’t even know it was him when I rescued him.
There are too many coincidences in this world. It just happened that he was drowning that day, and I happened to know how to swim.

“Don’t overthink it. The reason I didn’t come to see you these past few days is that Ella wasn’t feeling well. I’ve been back and forth to the hospital with her several times, and couldn’t find the time.”
“Is that so?” I asked nonchalantly. “Which hospital did you go to?”
Jack paused, then lowered his head in silence.
Of course, he didn’t dare to answer, because the hospital they had been going back and forth to was the one I was in.
It wasn’t that he had no time to see me; he just didn’t want to.
Jack sighed, just about to say “Yes” when Tommy’s scream interrupted him.
“Sister Ella fainted! Dad, look!”
