- 10.
I went back to my place, Chloe helped me
clean everything.
She left late.
I looked at the sky, and felt empty. I didn’t
know what was missing.
Then it hit me.
What if I moved somewhere else?
It was like it had been inside me all along, just
hidden in my heart
L
Do I want to leave this city?
I saw the stars. The urge was too big. I called
my boss.
“I want to quit.”
He was shocked, “Are you sure? What
happened?”
I told him about my plan. He was silent.
I
“You’ve always been great at your job.”
“You are a friendly person, we are really
gonna miss you.”
“But if you have plans, I’m not gonna stop
you.”
“You are gonna be alone in a new city. It’s not
く
going to be easy”
“We owe you for some projects. I’ll pay you
back now.”
He kept talking. “Good luck. Tell me if you
need any help!”
“Thanks,” I said, ending the call. I felt better
now.
I slept well and had no dreams. When I woke
up, someone was at my door.
Ding dong! Ding dong!
I opened my door, it was only 8 in the
morning.
Mark was standing there, face red.
“Sarah! Where are you going?” he said, all
pushy.
My plan was recent, only my boss knew.
He wouldn’t tell Mark.
Did he have spies?
This guy is a psychopath for real.
He caught my look. “Why are you staring at
me?”
Bang!
I slammed the door.
L
The house was silent, then he started
shouting.
“Sarah! How dare you slam the door on me?
Are you playing hard to get? Who taught you
that?”
I stayed quiet. He yelled. “Come out here! Tell
me what’s going on!”
He was hitting the door. I couldn’t take it.
“Mr. Mark, are you okay? What’s wrong with
you? It’s early.”
He stopped. He sounded defeated, “You
called me Mr.?”
“You never said anything bad about me,
Sarah. Why is this happening?”
く
I was annoyed. “I don’t know what you are
talking about. Please leave, I’ll call the
police!”
He changed his tone. “Ok, call them! I am not
leaving!”
