- 8.
I stayed in the hospital for a long time.
Chloe and my friends came to visit.
I had so much fruit and protein drinks.
My friends planned trips after I was done.
Even though it was boring, I felt good with
them.
Finally, it was time to leave.
My doctor came in and told me what to do.
Chloe grabbed my bags and we went
く
downstairs, happy to get out.
As we walked out, I noticed a man and a
woman.
The man looked familiar.
Chloe went stiff. “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing.” I looked at him. “I just feel like I’ve
seen him somewhere.”
Chloe grabbed my wrist. “Come on, Sarah!
“You can’t just walk up to any random guy,
thinking you know them.
“That pick up line is too old!”
I laughed, “Get out, I am not like that!”
L
We kept walking. But the man called my
name. “Sarah! You pretending you don’t see
me?”
“I paid your hospital bill. At least say thank
you.”
I was confused. I looked at Chloe.
“The bill was paid back,” Chloe said. “Leave
her alone.”
She pulled me away. He called out again,
“Don’t you remember I was the one who
brought you to the hospital? The least you
can do is say thank you.”
His attitude was making me mad. “Sir, do we
know each other?”
“If you really brought me here, thank you for
- it. I really appreciate it.”
“But I don’t know you. Please stop messing
with me.”
He went quiet, his anger turning to confusion
and panic.
“You…you don’t know me? Sarah, you don’t
know me?”
He then noticed my shaved hair and the
scars. “What happened to you?”
“How did the doctors forget to tell me you
needed that type of surgery?”
I frowned. “So, even if we knew each other,
we weren’t close right?”
L
Chloe knows about it, and I have had many
visitors.
If he was important to me, why would I not
tell him?
My hesitation vanished. “Chloe, let’s go.”
