I didn‘ t utter a single word.
In the end, I had the bodyguards escort
him out.
Jace knelt before me, his expression full of
remorse.
“Skylar, I admit I used some tactics to make you leave that man.”
“But please, believe me, I couldn’t just watch you fall for his lies.”
I smiled faintly, reaching out to take his hand. “I believe you.”
With that, we stood together, fingers intertwined, and left the scene, leaving Kael behind.
Afterward, Kael somehow managed to get my phone number. He called me over ten times, but I dismissed every call with increasing impatience.

The engagement party went off without a hitch. His family made a generous
investment, helping my sister’s company
weather its crisis.
The wedding preparations moved forward swiftly.
I gave strict instructions to the bodyguards, “If Kael comes looking for me, make sure he doesn’t get through.”
For months, I heard nothing from him or
Kaia.
The wedding day arrived.
Dressed in my gown, I stood on the stage, feeling the weight of the moment. Under the spotlight’s harsh glare, I smiled and said, “I do.”
But even as I spoke those words, I could feel a burning gaze on me.
I glanced around the room, my eyes landing on Kael in a quiet corner of the crowd.

He left his gift money behind, then turned and walked away, disappearing into the shadows.
After the ceremony, my sister and Jace each entrusted me with a company to manage.
Gone were the days when I could idly waste time.
Now, I wore high heels and sharp suits, building my presence in the business
world.
The last time I heard anything about Kael was at a social event in Riverdale City, where some acquaintances from
Willowcreek were gossiping.
They said that after our last meeting, Kael sold off all his company shares.
No one understood why; his company had been thriving, yet he chose to tear it all
down.
As for his “first love,” the woman he‘ d

once put on a pedestal, he hired people to beat her up and forced her out of Willowcreek.
I heard Kaia ended up with nothing and was consumed by bitterness.
In a fit of rage, she drove her car straight at Kael while he crossed the street, hitting him hard.
Both were severely injured in the crash; one was left dead, and the other disabled.
Two months later, a thought suddenly crossed my mind, and I removed Kael from my blocked list.
For reasons I couldn’t quite explain, I clicked on his social media.
And there it was, his final post.
A letter of self–reflection, drenched in regret. He confessed that his feelings for me had come too late.
He explained that he had taken Kaia in because he’d learned the truth, she

hadn’t abandoned him out of cruelty but because she’d fallen ill and lost her sight.
But now, he realized the truth. He‘ d been a fool, completely deceived.
The only person he had truly wronged was
- me.
As I read his letter, I felt… nothing.
I didn’t know if Kael was alive or dead, and frankly, I didn’t care.
Where Kaia had ended up was irrelevant.
None of it mattered anymore.
Two months later, I discovered I was
pregnant.
Jace was overjoyed, holding me close.
“Darling, I hope we have a daughter as beautiful as you! But we’ll have to watch over her, keep her safe from the bad
guys…
I smiled softly at his words.
