Chapter 58
Elara
I like you, Elara. I like you, Elara.”
As the car glides down the road, those words echo in my mind, over and over—

I stare ahead, my gaze unfocused, my breath coming in uneven, shaky gasps. I can feel the heat rising in my cheeks, and I’m sure my face is flushed
with embarrassment.
“I like you, Elara. Would you like to kiss me? I want you to kiss me.”

Oh my goddess! What am I thinking? What unholy thoughts are theseft.
“Elara!”
I flinch at the sudden call of my name, startled as someone taps my shoulder. I quickly look around, finding Martha staring at me, her expression bewildered her brow arched in confusion
“Are you okay! I’ve been calling you for a while now,” Martha says, her hand going to my forehead to check for a fever. “You don’t have a fever, then why is your face so red?”
-1- I’m fine, don’t worry about me,” I quickly say, trying to shake off the embarrassment.
“Madam might be tired since today was stressful. We’ll be at the packhouse soon, so don’t worry!” William says with a wide smile from the driver’s seat, glancing at me through the rearview mirror.
“Ah, that’s true. Once you get home, make sure you take your medicine and sleep early tonight. Don’t worry, I’ll make sure Damien doesn’t sneak into your room again so you can get proper rest this time around, unlike last night, hehe,” Martha adds with a subtle wink, her tone teasing
My eyes widen at her words as I remember what happened last night. What the hell! Martha doesn’t even live in the main packhouse, so how does
she know!
“–“I stop myself before saying another word, trying to avoid embarrassing myself even further. Clearing my throat, I mutter a quiet thank you” before sinking deeper into the seat and avoiding her gaze.
She chuckles softly and turns her attention back to William, who continues to gossip with utmost interest about everything that happened today.

And now,
Well, that’s a twist. Who knew that the woman who’s supposed to be fighting with me for a man actually likes me?
I don’t even know how to feel about this. I’ve never once considered that I might be attracted to a woman–no, scratch that, I don’t think I’m attracted to women Yet, Jubella feels different for some reason. There’s something about her that draws me in, much like how Damien and Lucian
“Wow” Luruun really if Elara doesn’t come out of the car, he won’t kill you but break your legs! I swear that boy wasn’t this stubborn when he was younger. How could he say such a thing? But then again, Damien grew up to be a fool too, so I’m not entirely surprised”
My eyes twitch at her words, but I don’t say anything. Then, Martha suddenly turns to me, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.
“That reminds me,” she leans in closer, her voice dropping
og to a whisper. “What did Isabella say to you? Did she tell you to leave Danien!”
I stiffen at her question. Well, quite the opposite. Rather, she views Damien as competition.

“Nothing, she just wanted to clear the air and make sure there’s no bad blood,”
1 Ilie through my teeth, trying to keep my tone casual. Martha nods, seemingly satished with my answer, before speaking again
“Isabella isn’t a bad person, in fact, she’s pretty chill and strong. She’s one of the pack warriors, has a higher position than Felix, though she prefers to work in the shadows. To put it simply,” she says with a touch of admiration, “She’s Damien’s trained assassin.”“
“Trained assassin?” I ask, my confusion evident.
Martha nods, and William, noticing my confusion, chimes in. “What Mrs. Martha mean is that Isabella works as an assassin for the Alpha. Her job involves collecting information and taking out anyone the Alpha wants dead. She has a pretty high position”
Wait! 1 gasp as something clicks. Red hair!

“Did her mission involve assassinating Lucian’s previous Luna during their wedding day?!” Martha and William exchange a look, their eyes widening as they seem to realize where I’m going with this.
Remember when I d 1 almost died during one of Damien’s and Lucian’s assassination attempts! Turns out, Isabella was the assassin. I know this because her hood fell off while she was fighting Lucian, and I saw her red hair.
Fifi, these people.
“Anyways” Martha chuckles nervously, clearly trying to move past my revelation. “It isn’t Isabella you should be worried about, but her father. Ronan as the real threat. He’s the dangerous one, so you should keep your distance from Isabella entirely to avoid gening tangled in any mess.”
I’m about to ask what she meant by that when the car comes to a stop. William gets out and
opens the door.
Martha’s eyes instantly light up as she gets out of the car, and I turn to see what has caught her attention. There, standing with a smile, is Lucas- her mate. Beside him is Damien, dressed in loose–fitting clothes that hang casually off his frame, the fabric subtly revealing his chest. He’s lazily sitting in a chair with his eyes closed, clearly too indifferent to stand.
Welcome home,

Damien’s eyes instantly snap open when he hears Lucas’s voice. His gray, piercing gaze locks onto mine, and a slow, smug smirk spreads across his
