On the contrary to his imagination I looked relieved to see the divorce papers completely signed, there were no traces of panic on my face making Alex feel deeply resentful as to how I could leave him so easily.
He pulled Jessica close before smiling down at me.
“Next month I am going to marry Jessica as my lawful wife, you as her sister are invited too. Unlike you who could never give me a child, Jessica would fulfil all the responsibilities of being Giovanni family’s madam.
Her children will be my heir.“Jessica’s eyes widened excitedly as she did not expect Alex to marry her so soon.
“Elena I know you loved Alex alot but please try to understand sister, you cannot enforce your love upon someone.”
I clenched my fists tightly trying to remain calm and composed despite my soul crumbling with the intense betrayal. It might have been alright to replace me for I had no hopes left from Alex but to even go as far as to declare that I could never be a mother.
He trampled on my heart relentlessly.
“Goodbye sister Elena. If you want I can make you one of my bridesmaids.” Jessica said with a mocking smile.
I ran out of the office with tears gathered in my eyes only to bump into someone making my body fall backwards with the impact.
The very next moment I was gently pulled into the person’s arms as they held me tightly. Looking up with blurry eyes I apologized heavily.
“S–Sorry please forgive me…it was my fault.”
“No” Taken aback by the answer my movements ceased as I looked up to see a man with a black mask covering half his face, beautiful emerald irises stared back with concern.
“If you are really sorry you better make up for my loss.” He pointed to the spilled coffee on the ground making my mood deteriorate.
“Alright.” I fumbled with my purse trying to take out some cash only for him to stop me.
“Not like this, there is a cake shop near the office, buy me something.” The ridiculous request made my tears cease as I pouted.
“Whatever, If you are trying to kidnap me you better know that I don’t have a single penny on me and no family to give you the extortion money. Also I am fired today.” I complained making him laugh heartily.
“Alright, let’s postpone the kidnapping for later-”
“You what! Are you really?”
“No darling.” He spoke before muttering something under his breath–‘even if I want to kidnap you Elena I am not particularly a kidnapper.‘

“Nothing, lets just go.” We went to the bakery shop and the shameless man did not even think twice before odering a buffet- raspberry cheese cake, chocolate dip cookies, a blueberry shake and whatnot.
Surprisingly all of the items were my favorite and we were given a seat by the seaside view.
“What are you not going to eat now?” I asked in anger just thinking of the price of everything. just because I spilled his coffee he made me buy him a buffet.
“I don’t like sweets.” My tension and tears have completely disappeared by now and I looked ready to kill this man.
“What?!”
“Since you spent so much on it, why dont you try how it is.” Despite not being able to see his face, I was confused to hear his voice turning gentle and he looked as if he was smiling.
“I hate bumping into you!” I shouted my pregnancy hormones making me drool over the food as I dived into it without caring about this stranger. If I paid for it it was better if I enjoyed it thoroughly.
When I had almost completed eating the man’s phone rang making him sigh deeply.
“It was nice to meet you stranger, now I have to go.” Suddenly it dawned on me that this was a completely unknown man and I was eating with him with so much familiarity even forgetting about Alex and Jessica altogether.
“Wait..do we know each other?” I asked him hurriedly when he got up to leave.
“Maybe darling.” With that he was gone.
The waiter soon came with a bouquet of yellow roses giving it to make, the gesture confusing me.
“Um I think you got the wrong person, I just needed the bill.”
“Madam there is no mistake at all, the bill is already paid and these are left by the gentleman who was with you. Also you are signed up for a lifelong membership in our chain of restaurants so wherever you go you will get the best service.”
Shocked I took the roses, just then seeing a card peeking in between them.

“Damien Giovanni.” My breath hitched as my eyes widened with shock.
Unlike me who had completely forsaken him, Alex found himself obsessed with my presence thus the very next morning he ordered his secretary to find out about my whereabouts in Paris and arrange someone to keep an eye on me secretly.
To gather more information about the place I might have gone to and the people I was in contact with, Alex searched through my belongings in the house.
