Chapter 12

“NO! She is my fucking wife?! I will never let a man like him have her!” Alex screamed, losing his patience.
“I will go on my knees and beg for her forgiveness! I will do anything grandfather please-”
“There have been rumors going around that you are marrying that female Jessica…tell me Alex, have you already divorced Elena?” Alex’s eyes widened as he sat with his mouth gape open in shock.
He forgot that the process was done now. His wedding with Jessica was in two days.
With the complete silence on the other end, Alex’s grandfather deciphered that those rumors were true, since he had little hope from Alex, he never governed his life and thus was unaware of what happened in his household majorly.
“Alex, I have never been more disappointed in you. Tyler liked Elena and would have treated her a thousand times better than you ever did. If Elena has really left you with no chances of reconciliation…the Giovanni family and especially I do not care whom you keep by your side anymore.
I will never accept Jessica in this household.”
After the phone was hung up Alex sat in front of the wardrobe with his eyes blank. The scent of roses still clinging to the fabric made him miserable.
“Elena…Elena no” A wave of nausea hit him hard as he laughed like a maniac. All these years… all these years he had believed Jessica was the one who’d saved him.
But it was me. His wife of three years whom he’d pushed away. The woman whom he slapped and discarded, even openly insulting and mistreating every single day.
He thought that it was I who benefitted from this marriage, never knowing that I was always the victim, that he was never forced into a marriage for money.
He ruined my reputation infront of his friends, constantly belittling me so that I would never find happiness in the money I married him for but he now knew that I never loved him for his stature or luxury.
For the first time in his life he won from his older brother and that too regarding the woman
his brother desired the most but what he did at the end…
He discarded me for a fake…for Jessica.
With his heart pounding fast Alex ran downstairs, he needed answers. He needed to see that parcel I have left–now.
The stairs blurred beneath his feet as he rushed down to the dining area where the box still lay partially unopened.
A stack of documents emerged, with a neatly typed letter sitting atop a set of papers. Alex’s eyes breezed through the cursive words which were unmistakably my writing. [Anything that was once yours is now useless to me. Loving you was the biggest mistake

Those words stabbed his heart mercilessly when he saw that beneath the letter, there they were, the deeds of the five percent shares. The ones his grandfather had entrusted to me after our marriage.
Alex gifted me small villa where we spent our first anniversary, the land deeds of that place were transferred back to Alex along with a check of a million dollars- the money he spent on my grandma’s treatment and for everything he provided me till now.
“She gave them back,” he whispered. “She gave everything back.” His hands quivered with his eyes bloodshot in misery.
The very next day Alex invited Jessica to a luxurious candle–light dinner in one of my favorite restaurants.
With soft music playing in the background he took my adopted sister’s hands in his own, a flash of ruthlessness appeared in his eyes for a moment before he masked it.
“Jessica you are my one true love, donating your organ to me when I was on the deathbed and taking care of me all that time I was lying unconscious, you have truly loved me more than Elena.”
The smile on Jessica’s face faltered for a moment before she regained her composure. “Y–Yes, I have always loved you Alex. I will do anything for you.” Alex in turn glared at her with his eyes wild, the betrayal, a cold, sharp knife in his gut made him eerily quiet. “A–Alex? What’s going on? Why are you looking at me like that?”
He didn’t answer and with a wave of his hand all the musicians stopped playing the instruments.
“Alex?” Jesssica asked in fear, hesitating “Honey you are scaring me. What is it?” With that he threw the medical report directly at her face as his voice thundered.
“Is this true?” Even now at this moment he hoped that Jessica would completely deny that she had fooled him- Alex Giovanni all along but seeing Jessica’s face pale like she had seen a ghost, Alex threw his head back and laughed like he had gone insane.
In rage he went forward and clutched Jessica’s throat in a unyielding grip.
“Bitch! I surrendered my life to you. All these years, I thought you gave me your kidney. But it was her, wasn’t it?” With each passing second his grip tightened making Jessica’s face turn blue, she scratched his arms with sharp nails in order to be released.
“I started loving Elena long ago! All these years I hated her for making me feel such emotions for her when I had already promised to marry you. I poured all my anger on her thinking she was a seductress!
And now I know that a fake like you dared to fool me! Slut! Do you think I will let you live well?!” Alex released the hold on Jessica and in turn slapped her so hard that she fell down with tears dribbling down his irises.
Understanding her situation better than anyone she quickly understood that if she failed to
