It was the wedding day with Jessica wearing an embellished white gown from a luxurious
brand.
“Jessica, this is the necklace passed down from generation to generation in the Dawson family. Even though I have not given birth to you but I consider you to be my one and only daughter.”
Unlike my wedding where my biological parents refused to spend even a single penny my biological mother Diana Dawson did not left any stone unturned for Jessica, even the twin elder brothers of the Dawson family gifted a mansion to her.
Soon it was time to take the vows with Jessica standing at the altar waiting for Alex to arrive amidst guests who looked forward to the day.
The banquet hall, adorned with flowers and decorations, felt suffocatingly silent except for the rustle of her dress when even after waiting an hour there were no signs of Alex. Jessica stood pale with Diana Dawson and her husband Jacob Dawson standing stiffly.
“She got stood up at the wedding didn’t she?”
“What do you even know, the groom was Alex Giovanni, why would a Giovanni marry an adopted daughter of Dawsons?”
“She belongs to the countryside so it’s no surprise that she is being detested.”
“What do you even know, she is a homewrecker and climbed the bed of her sister’s husband. Now she is pregnant and Alex is forced to get married to her, both of them are disgusting thus they make a good couple.
If only Elena had listened to me and had let me deal with this bitch earlier all this would have never happened.”
Jacob Dawson thought that it was just a malicious slander that I spread as rumors regarding Jessica.
He could only swallow the insult with a red face when he saw it was the prestigious young miss of the Stone household, my childhood best friend Erica thus all his anger was poured over Jessica instead.
“Are you going to make a joke of our household?! Call Alex now!” Jessica’s lips trembled as she cried looking at our mother’s face for support.

“Shutup!” Mother tried to reason with him only to be scolded infront of all the guests thus she too looked at Jessica sternly.
Glancing at her phone for the hundredth time with no calls and messages Jessica dialed Alex with trembling fingers only for her call to disconnect automatically.
He had blocked her. Astonished by this development Jessica called Giovanni office, connecting to Alex’s uncle.

“Where is your fucking nephew?!” Jessica was interupped halfway as my father snatched the phone from her hand, wishing to show everyone a solid proof of what kind of ruthless people Giovanni’s were.
He turned the phone to speaker mode and recorded the call so he could ask for compensation from Alex’s grandfather.
“What is the meaning of this?!!“he gritted his teeth in rage.
“Mr Dawson.” came Thomas’s cold voice. “The wedding is off. Alex is not coming.”
My father’s blood ran cold. “What do you mean, It’s off? We are not some beggars! Giovanni’s can’t just call the wedding off an hour before!”
The silence that followed was deafening. Jessica’s hands clenched into fists, her carefully applied makeup threatening to smudge as tears pricked her eyes. “Wedding is off?” Her body quivered as my father continued shouting profanities.
“Do you think this is some kind of a joke?! The Giovanni’s-”
“What about us? didn’t your good adopted daughter tell you that my father has already thrown Alex out of the Giovanni family?”
“W–What?” My mother’s face paled as she looked at my father getting angry each passing second.
“I am happy that Elena was not raised by you husband and wife or gods knows how she would have been corrupted by your disgusting morals!”
Are you not even aware what kind of heinous deeds Jessica has done? Conspiring against her own sister, she was already pregnant with Alex’s child and became his mistress when he was married!”

“If our Giovanni family can throw away Alex who is our own blood for his stupidity and heartlessness then what about a fucking orphan girl from outside whom even your father does not recognize. We will never fucking recognise such a treacherous woman in our household!

Jessica’s phone buzzed, breaking the tension. She snatched it up, her heart pounding as she saw Alex’s name flash on the screen. Hoping that he will come back she answered quickly.
“Alex?” Jessica trembled with a face ashen like dust. “Please come back, where are you?”
“Where I should have been from the beginning, I am going to fetch my wife.
I am not coming back, I called to inform you that you must get out of my house by tomorrow. When Elena comes back I don’t want her mood to be ruined because of your disgusting presence.”
Jessica’s breath hitched as she cried “What… What the hell are you talking about? We’re supposed to be getting married today!”
“Marry a bitch like you? Do you think you can become Giovanni Empire’s madam by climbing my bed? If it wasn’t for the misunderstanding I wouldn’t have kept you around at all!”

“I will make your life hell Jessica, this is just the beginning.”

“Our child? Don’t you dare dream. Only Elena’s children are mine, I don’t care what you do with this child. If you want to give birth then go ahead and do it, I will later give it to Elena for raising because you only seem to treat it like a weapon to enter my world.
Jessica you are not fit to be a mother at all!” Alex couldn’t even fathom why he selected such a woman above me and was angry on himself.
“Alex! Are you leaving me for that stupid barren woman?!
“Shutup! My wife is pregnant with twins, not one but two heirs! I don’t need you and your lies anymore.”
“Twins?” Jessica finally managed to say, her voice cracking. “You hate her. You’ve always hated Elena, she is lying to you! There are no fucking twins!”
“She is not you Jessica. I hated the image of Elena that you made me believe she was. When Elena was there I had everything but because of you I lost my wife and children! My grandfather threw me out of the family and all my life was ruined. You are a disaster!” Jessica’s mouth opened, but no words came out. The room seemed to be spinning around
her.
“Please don’t do this to me Alex, what about me?” Jessica whispered, her voice breaking. “What about us?”

There was no us from the very beginning, it was all your illusion.”
On the most important day of her life, Jessica was left alone, in her white dress, surrounded by the wreckage of a day that was supposed to be hers.
Considering the situation that had already gone out of hand my mother quickly ended the banquet forcing the guests to leave even when they wished to witness the drama.
She was shocked beyond belief to know the daughter she considered innocent was this kind of a monster. At that moment guilt and anxiousness to see me made her eyes tear up.

A loud noise echoed through the surroundings as my mother slapped Jessica harshly. “How dare you! Bitch!” Slapping Jessica made her hand tremble as the headmaid supported her to the sofa.
“You dirty wench! Not only did you fail to procure any benefits for my sons but also dared to compete with my daughter. I would have been the grandfather of the Giovanni heirs and you snatched everything from us! See I don’t kill you today!”
Jessica cowered in fear as another slap landed on her cheek, even the servants looked shocked.

Tell us, wasn’t it you who used to say that Elena always bullied you in college, forcing us to make our sister drop out!
Do you fucking remember when you both got into a car accident four years ago! We brought you to the hospital while Elena was left to die on the streets because we forgot about her!” Victor looked at Jessica with a glare gritting his teeth in rage.
