Chapter 21
Unknown to me Alex along with Jessica took their flights to the city I was living in.
The very next day outside my building Alex lurked in the shadows, sitting inside a black Mercedes. He had a perfect view of my apartment as he waited for me to come out, his heart beating wildly to see me again.
Unlike his expectations to find me, he was shocked to see Damian coming out of my house, his warm furcoat loosely draped over my shoulders as I exited in a loose maternity dress.
From far away he could see Damian fussing over my clothes as he wrapped a scarf around my neck, we exchanged a few words making me throw my head back and laugh before heading down the street together. The sight was particularly disturbing to Alex as years have passed since I have laughed like that in front of him.
“Are you seriously not telling me anything?” I asked my face in all smiles as I tilted my head to look at Damien as we strolled down the quiet serene lane.
“It won’t be a surprise if I tell you now Elena.” Damien replied with a mischievous grin. “Just trust me, you are either going to like it.”
Alex gritted his teeth. He couldn’t hear what we were saying, but the way my arm comfortably clutched around Damien’s forearm set his nerves on edge.
“Hmm let me guess, you said similar things last time when you tricked me to a luxurious spa while you got me a ton of maternity clothes.”
“You’ve been acting very secretive this time, just tell me already if we are going to buy more clothes because I am afraid that I would have to buy a new apartment to keep it?”
Damien chuckled. “Then how about we take a turn to a real estate company.”
“No!” I replied in panic, making Damien laugh loudly.
Alex followed at a safe distance, careful not to lose sight of us as he looked red eyed when Damien’s one palm covered my eyes as another hand carefully guided me to our destination.
It was an amusement park, its vibrant lights and cheerful music filling the surroundings. “It’s so beautiful! but where are the others.. wait…” My laughter ceased as I looked at Damien with teary eyes.
“Don’t tell me you…”
Н
“Yes I booked the entire venue for you, apart from some staff there is no one here. Didn’t you say that it was your wish?” I could not speak and just cried softly.
I was raised in an orphanage where even food was scarce thus even thinking about these things was a luxury. At the age of seven when I was adopted by grandma, she raised me after working hard and did not have the resources to take me to a picnic or outing.
I had once hoped that after my marriage with Alex everything would change but things went from bad to worse and Alex made me work day and night, it was only after so many

“It’s alright Elena, I will fulfill all your wishes one by one.”
Outside Alex bribed the guard and entered, keeping a close eye on us.
Damien led me towards the stalls one by one, securing goals to win a big teddy for me and making me wear a paper crown. I almost forgot everything and after so long was happy beyond belief as we naturally walked hand in hand.
“Now, sit here,” Damien said, gesturing to a nearby bench. “I’ll be right back.”
“You’re not even going to tell me what you’re getting?” I pouted like a spoiled child making Damien’s eyes soften as he smiled before going away.
A few minutes later, he returned with a small paper bag and a steaming cup.
“Your favorite chocolate chip cookies that grandma baked for you during christmas and warm almond milk to go with it.” he said but he was not done yet as he took out a pumpkin cake from behind smiling.
Alex watched with his jaw clenched hard as my laughter turned into a soft gasp.
My eyes that were lit up with excitement and joy were knowingly caught up by the children in my belly.
“Damien! I felt a kick!” I exclaimed, bubbling with happiness as my voice trembled, thick with emotion.
Damien’s expression shifted to that of pure wonder as his eyes widened. “Really?”
Without thinking I grabbed his hand and pressed it against my belly, our entwining palms feeling the movement “Here, feel it.”
Damien froze for a moment looking at me incredulously, overwhelmed, he dropped to his knees, with both arms around my waist he gently laid his ears over my belly. “Hello little one, your mother remains worried about you. Come out soon or she will keep troubling me.”
I laughed, brushing a strand of hair behind my ear. “So what if I trouble you, you can’t get rid of me can you now?” Damien looked at me with loving eyes.
“Never” Alex clenched his fists, his blood boiling as he looked at us- regret, obsession and rage swirling together.
One of the old stall owners came out and gifted me a huge heart–shaped balloon. “You two make such a beautiful couple. If my wife was alive she would have loved to see our youth in both of you after fifty years of marriage.” he said warmly.
I panicked, cheeks turned crimson. “Oh, we’re not…it not like that we are friends-” “Thank you, it would be my pleasure to grow old with her.” Damien said smoothly making me bite my lip in hesitation as butterflies jittered in my heart.
Damien’s eyes twinkled with amusement as he handed me the beautiful balloon.
I shook her head with a soft smile. “Why did you say that Damien?”
“Just like I told you Elena” he said with a shrug. “You are the woman I will go against the

“Just like I told you Elena” he said with a shrug. “You are the woman I will go against the world for.”
Alex’s vision blurred with anger as he his fists tightened around the table making it crack, a surge of monstrous jealousy burned in his chest. He felt that only he should have been the reason for my laughter and joy.
“How can you replace me Elena. I will never let this go!” He turned on his heel and stormed away, his mind racing with bitterness and regret as he dialed an unknown number.
“Get me all the details about Elena, all her appointments and schedules, her routine, find out about everything.”
