A few days after the scene of catching the cheaters, Chloe’s company annual party was approaching.
The party was to be held at a five–star hotel, and she had a solo singing performance.
I enthusiastically offered to help her with the background video for her performance.
The day before the party, I called Chloe’s parents.
“Uncle, Auntie, I’m planning to propose to Chloe tomorrow. Would you like to come and
witness it?”
“Sure, no problem!”
“I want to surprise her, so please don’t let it slip.”
“Haha, of course not. By the way, Lucas, about Ryan’s job…”
“Oh, I forgot to tell you in all the hustle and bustle. My friend said he’d give Ryan the job as a favor to me. After all, Ryan will be my future brother–in–law, just like my own brother.”
“Oh, Lucas! You’re the best! We’ll bring Ryan to thank you in person someday!”
Chloe’s parents showered me with thanks, and I said it was what family does for each
other.
Throughout the conversation, I emphasized one point: I was helping Ryan because Chloe and I were getting married.
In other words, if Chloe and I didn’t get married, her brother would have nothing to do
with me.
Her parents were overjoyed, wishing Chloe and I would get married immediately.
I even heard that they had started looking at houses with her brother.
Let them be happy.

The next day, Chloe woke up early and spent two hours on her makeup and hair before heading out with her expensive formal dress.
I didn’t need to ask to know what she was thinking.
At her company’s annual party, all the high–level executives would bring their spouses. Chloe was determined to outshine Greg’s wife in front of him.
I dropped Chloe off at the hotel, then sneaked in myself.
The hotel lobby was large enough for me to hide in the most secluded corner, pretending to make a phone call. The staff assumed I was part of the company and didn’t question me.
After the party officially began, the boss and vice presidents took turns giving speeches
on stage.
When it was Greg’s turn, I sent a text message to his wife.
“A man as excellent as Greg deserves a better woman. When love is gone, it’s gone. Do you think forcing it will make things sweet again? When he held me and called you a shrew and a boring old hag, I truly felt sorry for you. I have a performance today. I hope you’ll watch closely and see who suits him better, you or me!”
