Chapter 10
“From the moment you married Luna Celia, you condemned us both, Anthony ! Don’t claim it was out of duty. There are countless ways to care for someone without marrying them,” I insisted.
“Nicole,” he pleaded, desperation threading his voice, “I had no choice but to marry her. With my brother gone, her pup would have grown up fatherless, an easy target for ridicule. Luna Celia is an orphan, she had no one to turn to. How could she possibly raise a pup alone?”
I wanted to scoff at his feeble justification, but the laughter wouldn’t come.
“So, she warrants your protection, your sacrifice. Did you ever consider me? If we

had wed and had a pup of our own, what would we be to you? Just another family? While you were busy rescuing her, did it never occur to you that I might need saving too?” I asked, my voice raw with emotion.
“Anthony, your so–called love is meaningless to me. Please, I beg you, let me go.” I had given up our pup–not just to shield him from the stigma of illegitimacy, but also from the inevitable question: “Why does Dad have two families?”
Anthony’s eyes, red from unshed tears, conveyed his inner turmoil, yet he remained torn between me and his widowed
sister–in–law.
Unable to bear any more conversation, I turned and walked away, not daring to look back.

A police investigation soon followed. It wasn’t long before a tall, imposing man. barged into Luna Celia’s hospital room, his anger palpable. Ignoring her alarmed cries, he viciously slapped her across the face- twice.
“How dare you report me to the police for assault, you shameless woman? Do you remember throwing yourself at me? Now you’re playing the victim, huh?” he bellowed. “Do you think I won’t show them the videos of you begging for it? You cross me, and I’ll destroy you!”
Luna Celia, dazed from the blows, tried to stammer out a defense, but he was too enraged to listen. He sneered, “Think Alpha Anthony’s protection makes you untouchable? That kid you’re carrying… it’s mine. Let’s see how he shields you now!”

Her face turned ashen, and she begged him to stop, unaware it was already too late. Outside the room, Alpha Anthony and his mother had overheard it all.
Old Luna, her face contorted with fury, stormed in and struck Luna Celia with all the force she could muster. “You vile woman! I lost my true grandson because of you, and now you tell me this pup isn’t even ours?”
Overwhelmed by her rage, she collapsed.
Anthony, ready to confront Luna Celia and the man, rushed to his mother’s side when she fainted and summoned the doctor. A flurry of medical staff arrived, and after a battery of tests, they diagnosed Old Luna with an acute stroke, condemning her to a wheelchair for life.
Tears silently tracked down her face as she

absorbed the news, regret carving deep lines into her heart.
Without delay, Alpha Anthony demanded a divorce, but Luna Celia clung to their marriage. This time, however, he was
resolute. Quietly, he gathered evidence of her infidelity and filed for divorce on grounds of adultery, ensuring she left with nothing.
When I learned of the divorce, a faint sadness washed over me. After all, we’re adults, accountable for our choices. No exceptions.
The End.

pack, was at the airport.
Even though I was nearly unconscious from a severe blow to the head, I mustered all my strength to fumble for my phone at the horrific crash site and called him.
In a rush, he told me to call the police and hung up.
He was eager to get to the airport to see his fated mate, Liora Granger, who was reportedly terminally ill and wanted to return home to see him one last time.
The day I was discharged from the hospital just happened to be the same day they were taking wedding photos.
I rushed to the bridal store, watching as she wore the wedding dress and jewelry I had designed myself, holding hands with my

mate, Alpha Dorian Kingston.
Calmly, I said, “Please go to the front desk to settle the design fee.”
Without a fight, I turned and went to the hospital for a termination procedure.
I decided to give him up, return to the pack, and travel abroad for specialized training as a pack leader.
As he wished, I would let him be with his destined mate.
But who would have known, Alpha Dorian Kingston later went mad, desperately begging for my forgiveness.
