I was in the hospital room, lost in my thoughts about the upcoming surgery and the new life I was trying to build with Nill and Sam.
Sam skipped merrily into the room. “Mommy, Daddy said that after the surgery, you can always be with me! Daddy and I will be waiting for you!”
“Okay, I’ll listen to Sam,”
Over the years, Nill had taken care of Sam with such devotion, stepping into the role of a father without a single complaint.
From the two of them, I found the strength to keep going, to fight against the odds and the disease that had tried to claim my life.

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. Thinking it was the doctor, I called out, “Come in.”
But the moment I turned around, my smile froze on my face.
it was Alpha Frank standing there.
“Nancy!”
He lunged forward, his steps as fast as lightning, and grabbed my arm tightly.
“Finally, I’ve found you!”
I tried to pull my arm away, but his grip was like iron.
“Let go of me!”

But he didn’t seem to hear me.
“Why did you leave? Why did you fake your death?” he cried,. “I’ve been going crazy looking for you!”
“You made your choice, and now I’ve made mine.”
Just then, Nill walked into the room.
His eyes widened when he saw Alpha Frank holding me.
“Let her go!” In an instant, he was across the room, pulling Alpha Frank away from me.
Alpha Frank stumbled back, his eyes still fixed on me.
“Nancy, please,” he begged.

“We need to talk.”
I shook my head. “There’s nothing to talk about. I’m with Nill now, and we have a life together. You need to leave us alone.”
Nill stepped in front of me, his body tense and ready to defend me.
“You heard her,”
“Get out of here, and don’t ever come back.”
Alpha Frank looked from me to Nill, his face. a mask of pain and confusion.
For a moment, I thought he might argue, but then he seemed to deflate. Without another word, he turned and walked out of the room, his steps heavy and defeated.
I let out a sigh of relief, feeling a weight lift

I nodded, burying my face in his chest.
“I’m okay now,”
“Thanks to you and Sam, I’m finally ready to move on.”
