Chapter8
After the werewolf healers from the pack’s medical den conducted a thorough examination, they crouched low to the ground.
“Alpha… Muna’s arms are indeed beyond mending. There is naught we can do,” the lead healer whined, his voice quivering with dread.
“Unthinkable!” The Alpha howled in a frenzy, sending the trinkets flying.
“This cannot be! I never commanded anyone to maim her arms!”
The healer cowered, “Alpha, Muna has been ingesting the Bone – Melting Elixir. This foul brew can sap one’s strength and render their

limbs unruly after but three days of intake. Judging by her wretched state, she has endured it for a full two years!”
The Alpha lunged forward, his eyes blazing like twin infernos in the night. “Do you grasp the peril of spouting such falsehoods?”
“I dare not deceive, Alpha!”
“I charge you to heal Muna’s arms! No matter the sacrifice. Should you fail, the entire medical den shall pay with their lives!”
The healer quaked in terror. “Alpha!”
“Originally, even though Muna had consumed the Bone – Melting Elixir for two years, there was still a glimmer of hope for recovery. But half a moon ago, a spike was driven into her shoulder. The placement was so diabolical that it shattered her limb. Even the spirits of

our ancestors would be powerless!”
Half a moon ago…
The Alpha stood there, as if turned to stone.
“Alpha, half a moon ago was when Luna Snow whelped the young one. Have you forgotten?
It was you who personally assented to my execution. It was also you who permitted the dark sorceress to be so merciless to me, ramming that spike into my flesh.”
The Alpha staggered, as if struck by a bolt of lightning from the angry sky.
“No… this cannot be…‘
“Muna,” he murmured, as if emerging from a nightmarish slumber, and tried to nuzzle me.

I turned my muzzle away.
“Alpha, behold, my arms are useless. I am of no worth to you. Let me leave.”
In the end, the Alpha refused to let me go.
He wrapped his powerful arms around me, as if it were an act of kindness.
“Muna. Without me, how could you fend for yourself? I shall keep you close, safeguard you, and atone for my misdeeds.”
How laughable. He only sought redemption. after all was lost.
After the healers despaired, he scoured the wilds for wandering healers.
Later, he even visited the Frostbitten Asylum

less often. The upheaval on the pack’s borders devoured most of his energy.
The next time he appeared, his fur was matted, and his eyes were sunken, but there was a glint of triumph in them.
“Muna, haste thee!”
He hauled me up from my bed of moss and led me to the clearing.
There, Rosy, was flung to the ground by the guards.
She was a sorry sight, her fur caked in dirt and blood.
The Alpha bared his fangs and pointed his claw at her.
I’ve captured this venomous she wolf.

brought harm to you. Now, the choice of her punishment lies in you.”
Rosy’s muzzle was gagged, and tears streamed down her face as she thrashed about in a frenzy.
No matter how much agony Rosy endured, Moony would never return.
Seeing my silence, the Alpha seized the sword and severed Rosy’s forelimbs.
Blood sprayed across the clearing, and Rosy let out a series of stifled yelps.
I wrinkled my nose in disgust.
All I could think was how revolting it all was.

“Fetch the healer to stanch the blood. When this venomous she wolf regains her senses, cast her into the Punishment Pit. She shall endure every torment that Moony suffered!”
After Rosy was dragged away, the Alpha draped his arm around me.
“Muna, art thou content?”
“I’ve shut down the Red Lair and put to death all those who wronged you. If thy heart still aches, tell me, and I shall do all in my power to soothe thy pain.”
I swallowed the coppery taste in my throat and fixed him with a cold stare.
Alpha, there’s still one wolf who wronged me, and he still draws breath.
