Book 4 He Chose His Mistress, I
Chose His Brother
I walked into the banquet hall and saw Feryal, surrounded by admirers, gracefully playing the piano. Beside her stood Shayden.
In that moment, it hit me–Shayden had lied to me again.
To be precise, he had allowed his lackeys to humiliate me once more.
The mocking laughter around me was sharp and relentless.
“Look at her! Fooled again! How can someone be tricked so many times and still not learn their lesson? They said the boss would wear a red suit, and she really showed up in a red dress. Hahaha!”

“She’s been groveling for our boss for ten years–licking her way all the way to marriage. What won’t she do?”
“Now that the boss’s first love is back, do you think she’ll lose it and divorce him?”
“Not a chance. When you’ve been on your knees for so long, how do you expect to stand up again?”
I smoothed the creases on my dress, exhaled deeply, and walked toward the piano.
Shayden noticed me, casting a fleeting glance in my direction, his tone indifferent.
“You’re here.”
His gaze passed over me and landed on the

chattering lackeys behind me, his eyes sharp with warning.
“Shut up.”
For a moment, I thought he was defending me, sparing me from their ridicule.
But reality delivered a harsh slap the next second.
“You’re disturbing Feryal’s playing.”
The lackeys laughed even louder, their triumph echoing in the room, while the other guests joined in the derision.
“She came in that red dress thinking she’s the star, but she’s just a background character her husband doesn’t even care
about!”

“Marriage is all about mutual feelings. Forcing it never ends well, does it?”
I looked at the couple by the piano, glowing like newlyweds, and flashes of past arguments with Shayden filled my mind.
He had always stayed in contact with Feryal.
I used to cling to him, crying and begging him to see me, to love me.
But his response was always the same: was always the same:
“Phaith, stop making a scene.”
Not this time.
I pushed through the crowd and stopped in front of the two of them. My voice was steady and serious.
“Shayden, let’s get a divorce.”

The piano music came to an abrupt halt. Both Shayden and Feryal froze, stunned.
He frowned at me, his expression full of displeasure.
“Phaith, stop this nonsense.”
“Today is our third wedding anniversary. I invited Feryal to play for us. If you’re jealous, at least pick the right time and place.”
וו
Noticing the glass of wine in my hand, he instinctively moved to shield Feryal.
“If you’re drunk, go upstairs to the second floor and rest. Don’t cause trouble.”
How absurd.
The man I had shared my bed with for three

years was now standing guard for another woman, treating his own wife like an enemy.
My wrist moved before I could stop myself, and the glass of red wine spilled over Shayden’s expensive white suit.
His phone was always conveniently in the hands of his lackeys, allowing them to torment me over and over again.
I’ve had enough of this life. Enough of him.
